WDW Changed Opinions?

Is there anything in WDW that you've changed your opinion on over the years, whether it be a ride, a show, or something else? Was it a change from dislike to like, or vice versa?

For me that would be Splash Mountain. I used to never want to go on for the risk of getting wet, but to years ago I decided to risk it and went on anyway. Boy did I love it. Now it's my favorite ride at MK and during my last trip it was the first thing I rode in the morning, riding it 6 times during the day despite the weather being cold and rainy.

Figment is one that I never cared for much previously but now I find myself going on it every time I'm at Epcot. I find it to be a little goofy and odd (never saw the original that people agree was better) but I still have an appreciation for it. Having a beer or two and then going on also makes for a better experience!

Our opinion of how to visit WDW has completely changed over the years. We used to go full blast from open to close. That changed many years ago when we forced ourselves to slow down, relax, enjoy the scenery and experience. Best change ever. We now spend more time at the resort pool than in the parks.
We no longer rush trying to do as much as possible, but now enjoy the things we do get around to much, much more.

Completely agree with this! When we lived in Ohio, we made one trip for one week every year, and tried to do as much as possible. Now that we live in florida and are AP, we really appreciate slowing it down and enjoying the parks for what they are, not just what ride we can get on next.

Same thing happened to me last year. Since I started watching Disney movies, I started to understand significantly more things in the parks, so I slowed down a little bit with my obsession to just ride rides over and over again. Nowadays, I'm going to shows that I never had before and doing meet & greets.

Yes...slowing down completely changes the entire experience for the better.

Completely agree with what epcotisbest posted. Our philosophy in that respect has changed also. We are no longer marching from one attraction to the other. We have learned to stop and smell the roses. In that regard, attractions like the TTA, the Liberty Square Riverboat, and the Carousel of Progress have become much more enjoyable to me.

I used to love Ellen's Energy Adventure.. But lately.. It's been so badly maintained that its unbearable to get on. It's a great attraction, dated or not. But things like doors not opening and closing, non-moving AAs, an empty pit where the snake dino and ellen AA used to be, old grainy film, and bad audio... It's just depressing.

Even if they don't ever replace this 20 year old attraction.. The least they could do is close it for a month or two and get it back up to show quality.

Yeah, if we had not slowed down we would have missed things like Festival of the Lion King, Nemo, Superstar Television (how is that for an old reference?) Mickey's Philharmagic and much more. Would have never watched the Flag Retreat or Goodnight Kiss and would have walked right past PUSH (loved that little diversion that is sadly gone now).
We now ride bicycles at Fort Wilderness, go resort hopping every trip and ride the boats just for the heck of it.
It always amuses me when we talk to friends who have just got back and ask if they enjoyed seeing some of the entertainment at Epcot like the Jammitors and they have no idea what I am talking about.

Not sure if it's the same pit in the diorama, but I think they just moved a bunch of pterodactyls to where Ellen was.
At this point I think Disney is trying to get it as run down as possible so they have an excuse to get rid of the traveling theater.

We've been AP holders for many years. Before that it was all about doing it all. Now we come for two weeks and go at a slower more relaxed pace. We do not use the FP system and rarely book a dining reservation. It's nice to just enjoy the moment and not be ruled by a schedule.

FastPass Plus has changed my opinion more negatively, I really do not like the implementation at this point. I think as it stands right now, the system is broken and impacts overall how we can enjoy our time at the parks.

Aside from that, my opinion has been mostly positive, I try to not rush but enjoy what we have - that will be tested this April when the parks will certainly be much busier then prior times for me.

As a kid and teen I used to hate the Tiki room, now I love it. Also as a kid I loved getting wet on Splash Mountain, now I hate it. I still like Splash, just not the getting wet part.

I do dislike the lack of spontaneity and increased standby times for many rides, but I do like that it's electronics.

What do you mean lack of spontaneity?

As for the wait times, that's a product of the parks popularity and thus cannot be avoided.
It's a product of park popularity, but also a failure to expand and update what they have.

EPCOT is maybe 60% utilized and DHS is about 50% utilized. AK hasn't received a meaningful update since opening and MK is ultimately too crowded due to the failure to expand and enhance the 3 other parks.

Exactly! When you have one well developed park with a good amount of attractions and 3 half day parks your just going to have crowd issues.

The system of Fastpass has always been broken for many people. I know I'm old, but, when we went and had no FP we all stood in line. They appeared longer then they are now, but, in reality they were shorter because the were always moving. You never stood in one spot for over a minute or two. When you got to the front of the line, you were next and no one was going to get in front unless it was a handicap issue and I would hope we are all going to agree that it was the least we could do to help someone out. Then along came FP and system abuse. With it came anger where previously there was a hearty amount of moaning and comments on wait time, but, we were all in it together and it was just a funny part of the Disney experience. We b itched about it, smiled to ourselves and kept moving forward.
