Nextel is the best service anywhere at anytime.....it really is not that expensive if you get the right plan....and you can have the "walkie talkie" or pin # so you can use it without wasting your minutes...........its the best phone in the world....i live by it

not in the caribbean islands.. lol

I had Nextel until I went to PR to visit relatives. No service on the island.. not roaming, not anything.

That's the reason I have sprint

umm did u sign up for long distance and roaming....because its an add on

uh huh...

Nextel just doesn't have service there (at least then it didn't).. I cut contract with them (and didn't get pay a penalty, since one of the conditions of my contract was worldwide service)...

it sure does now...i went to the bahamas.......it worked great down there

I don't know of any specific websites for cell phone power rateings, you may want to try www.cnet.com they have some good information on the phones. Me i learned alot from my father, he worked in telecomunications at IBM then for cellular one. the company it self dosn't really matter since you can roam from one tower to the next, only a few smaller companies sometimes block there towers but thats rare and far between. look for a phone with a good power rateing and your reception will be good.

well, this is true for regular talking on the phone, but you start losing other features when you are not on the tower of your home network. i know that for me, i can't text message or access my voicemail unless i am on a verizon tower. and since i do a lot of this, it makes a difference.
