WDW by Myself

My Disney addiction is nuts. We go as a family every year at Christmas - however, the wife is giving me permission to go by myself for a few days as long as she gets to go to NYC with friends... Anyone ever go to WDW by themselves? Gonna be weird without the family but there are tons of things I'd like to do that I never get a chance to do with the family....

Never on vacation. But I've visited a few times for the day. Heck once I came with my laptop and did work. It's nice, can be a bit lonely, but also way relaxing. Especially if you spend the whole time divided between the train, steamboat, and wedway.

I have done it lots of time both at WDW and Disneyland. I love the ability to do what I want when I want and to do things others really don't enjoy. Along the way I have met several great people while waiting on line and around the resort. People are always curious about being there by yourself and you can have conversations with guests from all over the world. I also like being able to do the parks at whatever pace I like.

Once at Disneyland I met a family while on line at Splash Mountain who were very friendly and curious about my travelling alone. ( I was on business but planned 2 days at Disneyland as a side trip.) When I got off Splash they were waiting for me at the exit and invited me to lunch with them. My first inclination was to say no but the kids insisted. We had a great lunch (they actually picked up the tab) and I rode a couple of more rides with them before saying goodbye to explore the park by myself.

Enjoy!

I am going to go against the grain here so be kind.... :)

I went on my first (and only) solo trip in Dec 2013. I won't do it again. I found that while I had people that I talked to while in line or at meals, I wished my family was there with me. I would see something really cool and interesting and turn to tell them about it, but they weren't there. I found myself taking lots of pictures on my phone and then texting them to my family so they could see what I was doing. I would rather not spend my vacation doing that, but rather sharing it with the people who were on the other end of those texts.

I know a lot of people LOVE solo vacations, and more power to them. I just wanted to give a different point of view from someone who didn't care for my solo trip.

(NOTE - I am glad I went however, because it was the first time seeing Christmas decorations and I can't wait to bring the family with me to see them again!)

Totally understand - I do take the family every Christmas... Always have had a bucket list of things that I wanted to do but the family wasn't interested in ..
