Ever want to recreate an effect, prop, set, costume, or landscape from WDW at home?
This is an example how much an impact one thing from WDW had on me that I had to have it!
I was granted permission to direct a production of "Children Of Eden" at a local community theatre here in Michigan 2 years ago.
Over a year of planning went into the production and I had to find some skillfull people to create the ideas in my head for the stage.
From the beginning, I wanted 2 large puppets to open the 1st song in the second act. These puppets would be like the ones in the ToD parade at Epcot. I always loved them and they made me feel so good just to be up close to them.
I found someone talented enough to tackle the task showing him pictures and video of the parade. He made a sketch for me by the time we ended our meeting. And in one week, both puppets were done!
The 40lbs puppets were much heavier than the 15lbs WDW originals so I had to find 2 actors strong enough to control them.
The result made people applaud at their entrance and the feedback after each of the 18 performances was clear that the audience loved them! Many people longed for WDW after seeing them and said it brought back good memories.
The puppets were dismantled after the run due to lack of storage space but the memories will run on for a long time!
(the Disney fireflies effect were also used in the production)
Here is a picture from our final dress rehearsal on 5/11/01.
