I'm being an a$$.

My wife dreams about a Corvette. I just laugh at her. Because I'm a German snob.

Did you see the new SL 65 introduced in New York? 604 hp. Yum Yum. BMWhat?

Where's the list of cars...I only see GM vehicles.

Heck, I have to PAY $1000 to drive AMG.

It looks like they won't have the new WRX/Saab hybrid, just the 9-3/9-5's.

Your mission is to have someone get pics of you launchin the hummers off of those birms.

Bring a peltor and scare the GM reps!

Im a big subaru fan. They arent a BMW but you take a 30,000 WRX STI and put another $3,000 into it and and you got one crazy a$$ street machine. Probably wouldent have much trouble keeping up with the SL 65.

I love Subies... but there's just something about a car that does the same thing without relying on forced induction..

I haven't done anything to mine besides get PS2's for summer, M3's for winter and a Valentine One as a present for the cops.

Tell that to my buddy with a 2003 WRX with 13K on it. He just had to replace the entire tranny, and he doesn't even beat it that bad, and of course the warranty was denied because of engine mods. I had 2 vettes, they are nice cars. I like BMW but I've never owned one( I have an F-150 and a Navigator) but I see the stylings and power of the european sports sedans as very attractive. I've been close to purchasing a SL430 but ended up going with the Navigator for family reasons,it would look pretty funny with a baby seat strapped in. My only current option would be a full sized car and if you've priced them lately you'll see why I'm sticking with my current rides. The new full sived VW looks nice to me but I'm curious what the Audi version will be like. If I could I'd go to this GM proving ground, maybe beat up an H2:D

What I don't get is why they even call certain cars "German" cars anymore. Most economy residential cars that are German are built in Mexico. I say this with a liking for German cars, until my wife's 2002 Beetle literally fell to peices at 12,000 miles and we had to turn it in and get a small claims court settlement to walk away debt free from the deal. come to find out, the car was built in Mexico along with most economy German cars.

You mean VW economy cars. Not German economy cars. The one series and a class are made in germany.

Mercedes, BMW and Porsche still all are produced in Germany, with at least for Mercedes the exception of its ML line...which have had problems, but ,well, they are made in alabama. Explains a lot then doesn't it.

I may be mistaken, but I would assume the Engineering was done in Germany for the ML line. If the Engineering is sound, and the tooling is accurate, you should be able to build anything, anywhere, even in Newport Beach:animwink:

uuuuh....there's a little thing called craftsmanship...which engineers have no control over. That's where people come in. Germans and Italians can be about things...there's good and bad with that. WWII bad Modern day cars good.

If they made the cars in Newport beach, they wouldn't be any better!

I agree completely with 'craftmanship' in a job shop environment, but in a mass production environment with Unions and such, you pretty much better have your Engineering and Tooling in such a place as to remove 'craftmanship' dependability. I speak from experience in the Aerospace Industry.

Yes, good or bad workers impact the product, but in this type of industry, where the roll-out plant is pretty much only an assembly house, proper engineering is essential.

I could have just as easily have said Cincinnati in place of Newport Beach. If your processes are employee dependant then you do not have reliable processes.

So BHG 469 a suped up Suburu can get you a 0-60 of 4 seconds huh? That's impressive.

if you got the time and money, they are all wheel drive so theres no tire spinning they just go. a few electronic upgrades and they will shred just about anything, compared to the 80,000 and nice benz will cost you.
