WDW/AAA Florida's In-Car Welcoming Station

I'm sure many of you remember the Walt Disney World Radio Station that you could pick up on I-75 South in Florida. Back in the mid 90's I wired my car radio to a stereo cassettte recorder so I could listen to it anytime. Now it's long gone so I thought it may bring back memories for others as well. You can listen to it here...it's the whole loop, almost 20 minutes.

Great quality for a radio broadcast and you capturing with a Mcguyer rig...

LOL, well it wasn't totally like that, no duct tape, the radio had RCA outputs on it and the stereo cassette had a line input, it did end up sounding pretty good for the way it was wired. Glad you like it...

oh okay..I didn't realize the unit had RCA outputs on it...that does make it a bit easier! Haha..Either way, you made the effort and we get to listen all these years later...good job!

I remember that. When my kids were small I used to record their cute conversations in the car as we'd near the Disney parks, going under the arch etc. I also recorded the full radio welcoming spiel. Great memories.

Yep, I really miss that on our drives down from Georgia. Weren't there two of them? One at Ocala and one on the Turnpike?

Well this one was on 107.9 FM, there was one at WDW on AM...you can find out where I-75 is below:

As I recall the FM station started around Gainesville, FL and faded out around Ocala, FL. It was meant to direct tourist to the Disney/AAA Welcome Center in Ocala and advertise WDW.

I was listening to it and I have another version I got from another site awhile ago and one thing that gets me wondering is a stage show they mention when they talk about the NEW Tomorrowland called Captain Cosmic..I've checked the net to wonder what show this was..There is nothing about it..and the mystery of it gets me more curious to see what it was about.

Just so you know this station does not exist anymore. Recordings of the old station can be found on Mousebits under Disney Radio.
