WDW 50th Anniversary CD

I recently bought the WDW 50th Anniversary CD. I have my likes and disklikes. Start with likes: One word: SOARIN! The music is awesome and it's actually from the ride background. Second, there's some ones from MK like the Trolley Show that are on there and really cool. Dislikes: The theme song "Remember When" performed by Leann Rimes is so boring, nothing compared to Remember the Magic by Brian MckNight (sp). Also, Cinderella's Surprise Celebration (the old castle show) is cliped and not in its entirety but on the track listing it says it's 15mins long when in fact, it's only 8 mins long. So, has anyone gotten this CD and what are your thoughts? Just curious. Have a magical day!!!

No, I'm sure you didn't.

WDW doesn't turn 50 for another 16 years.

I have the CD's (which are for Disneyland's 50th... ;) ), and I love them. It's nice to have the old attraction music mixed in with the new stuff. I still listen to my 1988 DL/MK/Epcot Music CD, it's just timeless stuff.

There are things that I'm sure could've been included (I'm not going into that here, everyone will have their own opinion on that), but each CD is jammed upto the 74 min. limit with great stuff. An excellent buy, IMHO.

If he did have a set of WDW 50th CDs though, he could get a pretty penny on ebay. :D

I really like the new CD, definitely the best one yet. Randy Thornton (I think that's his name) did an excellent job. I actually just ordered the 6-disk DL set (btw, for anyone thinking of buying, it just went national and is *only* 90 bucks). Also, even though I didn't at first, I really really like "Remember When."

We got the CD in May and just love it. It's a great way for us to familiarize some of the attractions to our young children, so they are more comfortable with them when we go back. :)

What I don't get is what the big deal is in producing these CDs. I'm not being sarcastic, it's just my ignorance on the subject. But I read somewhere about all the months of effort that went into producing the latest sets. I was down to WDW recently and picked up the HCOE 2-disc set. I really like it, but I could have assembled something very similar quite quickly from my personal collection.

For the most part these CDs consist of existing recordings. So there's no composition, no assembling of orchestras or arrangements, and so on. What takes months? Is it all re-mastering?

(Again, I'm just asking for my own information and don't mean to be rude. )

It is surprising, if it was so painstakingly put together, that it would have that mistake listing Cinderella's Surprise at 15:03 when it's only 9:06. I also noticed they capitalized "it's a small world", which (for some reason) is never capitalized in anything that's official Disney, at least this is the first I've ever seen.

I don't mean to bash it -- I bought it and I'm still glad I did. I just don't necessarily buy that it was so meticulously put together, seems rather hurried to me.

When a copilation CD is produced it can take from hour to months. Sometimes even years for clearance, this is not the case. The 6 CD box set from the Disneyland music and rides is one of the most extensive documents in music now. Not just have some sounds never offered before in any medium (CD/LP/Cassette) plus some full ride sounds and music. Sometimes documents like this need to take time to mix down or edit some songs.

Maybe the Cinderella track was edit as an afterthought because was to long for a CD (time limit) and the covers and art were already done.

Now if this was an iTunes Download it would be worth the bandwith...

Idea

How about this idea: Why not ask iTunes Music Store to have this download for sometime as an special download (like U2 Ultimate or Rolling Stones)
The iTMS lets download all the CD + a PDF booklet, hey they can even include the Happiest Homecomming and Happiest Celebration CDs plus some Videos from the celebration.

iTunes Music Store can be reach here for feedback.

Just imagine having the first track (Walt's Dedication to Disneyland), a video from the "Remember When" song and some clips with the original Openning and the 50th ReDedication + the official Disneyland 50th Anniversary day (I know i would love to have that and see it)

I have the CD as well. A brother of a friend of mine picked it up for me because he lives only a mile from Disneyland. I love the CD! A "must have" for fans of old attractions!

The massive amount of work didn't necessarily go into the WDW CD, but into the DL 6-disc. A lot of the tracks on there were mixed just for the album, and included things like sound effects and other elements that weren't in the source audio and had to be put in. There was probably some reconditioning done for the WDW CD (some of those recordings are 20+ years old), but not too much else.

I'm still somewhat disappointed that the speaking portions of many of the attractions were left out again. Indy, Star Tours, Roger Rabbit, Winnie the Pooh, America the Beautiful...all of these were missing most (I say most because Star Tours does have a few seconds of ReX talking...go figure) of the words and was just the background music. In addition, for whatever reason, the Mark Twain part of the Mark Twain Steamship was excised. Very odd. As has been mentioned already, there are probably clearance issues involved, but considering I did pay the full insane price for it...I'm a little bummed.
That being said, the rest of it was great. I was especially happy to get the other two Country Bear shows (or at least high quality ones!) finally on CD.
Now, if only we could get them to bring back the make-your-own-CD stalls at the Parks...

Oh, how clever...LOL, not! Obviously what I meant was the WDW album for the 50th anniversary of DL. And no, all the songs are not from DL but from all the parks including Epcot, MGM and AK. But I'm glad I could make you feel funnier than u really are...Now that's funny. I kindof dislike people that try to make others feel stupid and make themselves look smart.

I bought the two disk set for Disneyland and loved it except for a problem with the second disk. The 10th song is where the 11th should be and then 11 is where 12 should be and so on. Finally 18 is where 10 should be. It's kind of wierd but at least the songs are there
