For fans of Wawa, today is their grand opening. The place is packed, I guess they have a big customer base from up north. The sandwich counter was packed and the line was out the door. They were giving away some free drinks and other stuff. If you are nearby, you should stop by. It is across from Sea World on Central Florida Pkwy and International Dr.

Stopped by again yesterday evening--third time in a week--place is still slammed. $1.99 shorties and free coffee no doubt have something to do with it, but what a way to make a splash in Orlando.

this place looks amazing. aren't they a branch of a European chain? i could have sworn i have seen them somewhere in Europe when i went last summer or east coast. and the food looks amazing for a gas station.

Nope... not European. :) I grew-up a few miles from their corporate headquarters in southeast PA, and used to go running down Wawa Road! They started as a convenience/food store and only-recently branched-into selling gasoline too. 20 years ago, I worked for the company which supplies all of their sandwich breads--Amoroso Baking in Philadelphia. Wawa provides a lot of business! I wish they'll eventually branch-out here to Texas!

I hope they spread out more too because I love WaWa but a lot of convenience food items are subject to regional preferences. I have friends from New England who are amazed that the Dunkin Donuts in the area don't have drive throughs. Some of my friends at college never knew that 7-11 sold gas. *shrug*

I have only been to Wawa once and that was on the way back from Penn State to my college SUNY Oneonta. It was certainly awesome and I look forward checking out the one by Disney! It certainly made our hungover drive back to NY somewhat more tolerable :D.
