The water at disney is fine for me and my wife. We've got municipal water at one house and a well at the ranch both have different tastes, but its water. My favorite water from a public source would be in Kuwait.... desalinated sea water.

People's taste in water is so variable. People from one township to another would say each taste different and they came from the same water plant. It gets tested in Florida and they send home owners water quality reports. Whether they are accurate or not that's where the EPA comes in as a watchdog. I'm not sure how much of a watchdog they are empowered with nowadays. Buy a bottle or bring one if you are concerned with costs and quality. I bring a small over the shoulder cooler that holds 6 bottles. Public sells a case of water for 3.50

Sure...that's a simple answer, but what about the negative impact the poor water quality has on your table service dining experience or your experience at the resorts when brushing your teeth. It just seems that it's a pretty big issue considering how much we depend on water, and I'm wondering if there have ever been any plans to fix the issue?
I live in a rural area where all we have is sulfur water (well not all, some have gas in their water and would be happy with the sulfur water if they could get it). We make out just fine with it. Maybe some people are just a little spoiled.

They use recycled water for the lawns and gardens....... maybe the lines got cross connected!!;):cyclops:
You are probably closer to the truth than you think. My well is below bedrock. They hit water above bedrock but I had them drill further. I don't want to drink run off water (ground water). In Florida, I don't believe you can drill below bedrock to get water.

Edit; I remember drinking the water as a kid almost 30 years ago and on many other visits and it’s not to my taste as our water in the Yorkshire Dales in the UK is pretty good so bottled all the way in WDW for me these days! :)

After reading this thread I did a bit of quick maths on bottled water purchased before hand vs Park price...

We will be renting a stroller and they offer cases of water and although slightly inflated compared to grocery store prices they deliver for our arrival with the stroller which is obviously very convenient.

We are 4 adults 2 kids for 15 nights and if we order 4 cases (96 bottles) (based on 6 per day) we save $300 on the prices in the parks!

I’m not one for scrimping really and if I had to carry them around as I would in the past (Pre- children) ;) I wouldn’t bother apart from maybe one on a morning but we have a bag and a stroller to transport them in these days so a no brainer!

Crazy the price difference :)

Unfortunataly the affects Of bad water sometimes don't show themselves for some time. Get yourself some type of filtering system right quick. Sulfer and gas in your drinking water not good.

In Florida it's called reclaimed water and it is derived from a whole separate pipe system. Lie the person said you would have to cross pipes to have that happened, it certainly could happen. No if you have a well that's an entirely different issue, I would get purification system no question at all.

If you have an issue, buy a few britta water filtration bottles. We always have one for each family member, just because it basically turns any water into bottled water, which for Disney, is just Atlanta public water which has been filtered and bottled.
Coca-Cola products are bottled locally, not centrally in Atlanta. Dasani in Orlando is Florida tap water.

I think most would agree that WDW works hard to ensure that every aspect of your experience at the resort is as perfect as possible. So why in almost 50 years, have they not done something to treat the water on property? It has a very strong sulfer taste and seems to be a problem with the water quality in the entire Orlando area. I get that it would be expensive to develop their own water treatment facility, but am curious if anyone has any other insight on why WDW hasn't made a bigger effort to have guests drinking the best tasting water on the planet.

Florida is heavily dependent on well water. Well water has a sulfurous odor and taste to it due to the minerals present. It's perfectly safe, and I, believe it or not, think it's kinda Disney for my Diet Coke to taste of the "Florida Ice". :)

Pretty sure drilling below bedrock in Florida increases the probability of sinkholes due to the prevalence of limestone, and don't forget the cost. You are not making that much money on water and ice, so why go through the added expense? This would be the same dilemma if Florida tried to capitalize on the abundant salt water surrounding the state, but have you looked at the cost of a desalinization plant? Just not cost effective for a little taste, smell, and water color difference.

When we first moved to Kissimmee, my daughter wouldn't drink the tap water, so I installed a Britta filter on our faucet. She thought it was ok then, but I could still taste it a little. I found if I put it in a pitcher in the fridge, I couldn't notice the taste if it was cold. We would always buy 1 bottle of Dasani each in the parks and then fill it from the soda dispensers at the QS restaurants where it was filtered. If it was straight out of a drinking fountain at the parks, we could still taste it.

Sulfur water does not constitute bad water. The only reason for a filter system is make it taste better. When I drilled my well they told me I had great water. I really didn't need a filter. Of course maybe you're an expert.

I agree that the disgusting taste of the well water in drinking fountains is a problem that should be addresed. One option would be to add filtered water bottle filling stations to encourage hydration in the dreadful summer months.

Add me to those who don't like the taste of central Florida tap water. I stop on my way from the airport and pick up a gallon of spring water. That takes care of my CPAP machine, teeth brushing, drinking - everything in my room for the visit. I don't mind spending bucks for tasty water in the parks. And Dasani by far is my favorite bottled water!

I feel bad for those of you who have to drink water with that has this kind of a taste. Water has no flavor, it is the impurities in it that we are tasting. The city water where I live has very very little taste to it at all. It is one of the cleanest tap waters that I have tasted and we are in a very hard water zone. Hard enough to where it will build up on your faucets. But they treat it so it does not have any nasty flavor. I think the pool water has a clearer taste then the tap water at WDW. I think maybe they need a bit more chlorine in the water to kill some of the bacteria we are tasting. The nasty water makes everything taste different. The soda, coffee, tea, etc. I bring my own coffee from home and if I use Florida water then it tastes completely different. I can also taste the difference in the soda if they put ice in it. Trust me, things taste so much better in other places. The water really does change the flavor of things there.

Tampa Bay has desal plants. They are not cheap to run.
