As long as your kids our willing to do the slides!! Blizzard Beach has more intense rides. Typhoon lagoon is much prettier and the Crush n Gusher is a great family ride. If your kids our under 8 I would go with Typhoon Lagoon, if there older than Blizzard Beach.

It depends on your family, of course. For us, we have small kids -- all aged 8 and under. Last time we were there, we worked in a trip to Blizzard Beach. We mostly stayed at the kids area -- Tike's Peak -- but also did the lazy river around the park. Even staying in the "kiddie" areas and not doing any of the big slides, it was a major hit. We plan to go again on our visit this year.

I definitely think it's worth it.
A lot of people seem to prefer Blizzard Beach, but for me it was too bright. I have a light sensitivity and all the UV bouncing off all that fake snow was treacherous for me. So if you opt for that one please make sure you have your sunglasses, you won't be sorry!
We prefer Typhoon Lagoon, we'll be visiting with a 2-year old this time so we're looking forward to experiencing Disney on a more leisurely basis; we'll jump back and forth from the kiddie area to the wave pool. We might even use both our waterpark days at TL because my eyes just can't take the brightness of BB.

Both parks are great and the surprise hit of our last trip was snorkelling through Shark Reef at TL. It was a cooler day in October with nobody waiting so the CM just kept waving us though 6 times in a row. This trip we are in WDW fewer days than previously so we are only doing one of the waterparks and the vote was for BB.

We just went to Blizzard Beach last Friday with two seven year old girls - what an awesome time!!! I'd say the longest line we waited in was maybe, 15 minutes, and that was because it was a long walk up stairs. We had a great time. Total gem that not many people take advantage of.
(I was also surprised at the shade at Blizzard Beach - I was worried about the brightness, but it really wasn't bad at all. The lazy river was amazing. But as the previous poster stated, bring sunglasses.)

Loved TL! Haven't made it to BB, but the grands (6 & 12 on that trip) really enjoyed the shark adventure. We also got waved through on a slow day. We used those Kodak underwater cameras for pics and actually made a huge poster out of one of the underwater pics. Great souvenir! Also enjoyed the surf area! I thought it well worth it! Fun for all of us!

We need time for things to happen.
Both parks are worth it and both have their charm. I think TL nudges out BB for the lead based on overall theming and lushness of the park, but honestly that could just be preference. You can't go wrong with a day or half day spent at either of these parks.

I'd say yes! They're a great way to relax and take a break from the parks, and teen boys would probably love the slides at BB (My fave is the Toboggan Racers!) I have to advocate for going to TL as well...wave pool and water rollercoasters...good deal. If you go, try to go to both! We did BB in the morning and TL in the afternoon and it was a little tight, but that may be because I have to ride things multiple times. :p

Of the two I'd definitely recommend Typhoon Lagoon.
The themeing is a lot more successful there and there's a better variety of things to do (slides, huge wave pool, watercoasters, shark snorkeling, etc.) compared to Blizzard Beach which is pretty much all slides.

I would strongly recommend against trying to do both in the same day, or even on back-to-back days.
You'll probably be too sore, sunburned, and tired to enjoy the second one.

We tried both on our trip last month & we had a blast! Spent alot of time in the kiddie areas of both parks but, our favorite was BB! We especially liked Melt-Away Bay, Cross Country Creek, & FROZEN HOT CHOCOLATE!!!! YUMMY!!!!:p At TL we liked Gang Plank Falls, Shark Reef, & Crush n' Gusher.

IMHO you cannot go wrong with one of the water parks it's great to be able to do 1 or 2 days at the WP's to split up your vacation time. We are local and head to the WP's every weekend in the summer we prefer BB over TL (smaller kids).

In my opinion, TL is vastly superior to BB. Worth the money is hard to say, though, as it depends on your situation. For us there is no additional cost as we have left over water park days to use up.

One piece of advice, if a thunderstorm looks like it is coming, leave ASAP. We were stuck under a lightening hut for 45 minutes terrified and freezing.

I think that you will do good with either choice, but when my kids were teenagers they did prefer BB. Arriving prior to opening will get you short lines for awhile, just like the parks. Make sure to pick a shady area for your stuff as the sun will be very hot. Two other things are that make sure to put sunscreen on the tops of your feet, and wear some type of water shoe, as the concrete can get hot.

Love love love the water parks. Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite (WAVE POOL) but they're both great. Haven't been back in years due to tight schedules, and now having small kids, so I'm just waiting until they're old enough to handle more of the slides. :)
