I am going to WDW Aug 13-Aug 17. I know it rans alot in Florida and was wondering when do you think is the best time to hit the water parks during the day (early morning, afternoon, late afternoon- evening)? I would like to get in about 4 hours at the WP with not being rained on. Thanks:sohappy:

It's said that as early as possible is the best...

We never go there... (for swimming that is)

we always go when they first open in the morning, if not there is always a long wait for the slides at BB and the wave pool gets soooo crowded you can't move at TL. we stay till 12 or 1 and then go back to our hotel pool and relax:cool:

I like to go a half hour before the water parks open, that way I can go on what I want and get out of there, bc like around 12 it get crazzzy... so many people they prob will close the park bc the of the limit of people.... then you have the rest of the day to park hope or go to DTD or just chill for the day...

I hope I somewhat helped

very true, also the parks close due to capacity and if you try to go mid-afternoon there is a chance you wont even get in.

I agree that morning is the way to go, but part of his question has to do with rain. Does anyone know what usually happens there when it rains and/or lightenings, as it is so prone to do in the summer? I mean, you don't really want to be out in the open in a giant pool of water, but those storms usually brush by in 15 minutes, so you don't want to go home either.

when lightning is in the area they get everyone to leave. we found out that it usually rains around 3 to 4 in July and August. they empty the parks just like they close your hotel pool when they have word of lightning.

I have been a lurker for a while and finally registered so guess I'll jump in on this one. I'm a Fl resident and have been going to WDW since the year after it opened. I was there 72-76 as a tourist and then as a resident who had lots of company from the North who came down to visit us; but really were here to visit the mouse.

This year they have early morning hours for on site guests so you can get to the water parks really early. My son works at one of the waterparks so I hear all about openings and closings because of weather.

At BB they have a weather station on the mountain and they watch for lightning in the area from there. If there is lightning they will shut down the park. Guests do not have to leave, but must go to a shelter and wait out the storm which usually passes in an hour or less. The CMs stay in the shelters to aid the guests, some entertain, some think of games to play and some just talk to the guests while they wait out the storm. As soon as it is safe they reopen the slides. They do not close down if it just rains. If the lightning occurs within a certain time of the regular closing time for the park and there won't be enough time to reopen they close early. In the rare case of it being a really stormy day or a really cold day the park might close and remain closed even early in the day.

The best time is the early morning especially for Blizzard Beach. The water parks in the summer reach capacity most of the time. As far as the rain, you can still enjoy the attractions at the water parks as long as there isn't lightning!! I have been to Blizzard Beach a ton of times and it hasn't rained....yet.

This happened to me, we showed up about 2hrs past the opening of typhoon and it was at capasity. Not much fun!:( We have never not got in if we showed up at opening. So go at opening, that works out the best.

300th post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to agree with Nemo14.

If you get turned away in the morning, go right after the afternoon rain, and you should have no trouble getting in.

I don't understand why they close the water park when it is raining. Unless it is thunder or lighting out then that is good. But if it is raining, you are already wet. It is just water and like Florida weather every day it rains. It will only be a couple of minutes before it goes away.

They dont clsoe the park when its raining, only when they spot lightning. And then all they do is shut down the pools and slides. You can still get in the park as long as its not at capasity. We have been there many times when its been pooring rain and nothing closed.
