Water Parks and Contact Lenses

Ok, I am not really a swimmer but my GF is. We are planning on going to Typhoon Lagoon and I'm trying to get a tad more adventurous for her sake. I wear contacts and am afraid of going down water slides will make them fall out. Or, if I wear goggles, I'm afraid they will fall off, too. Help!

How does everyone else do it?

Thanks for offering me some guidance

I am pretty much blind w/o mine but still wear nonetheless....I always always always bring some spares just in case...have not lost one going down slides but figure if I did it would be just one and I would manage with other eye til I hit the lockers....:lookaroun

Obviously depends on how they sit on your eyes, but they have a light suction to the eyeball so it take some help to get them to move usually, also depends on how moist they are etc etc.

Now for waterparks I always wear my contacts, I usually wear mine on water rides but before the big splash down i close my eyes so i dont get THAT much water in them, I have opened up my eyes under water with contacts and nothing happens, but wouldn't suggest wearing them under water for extended periods of time. Wear your goggles like you said.

Hope I helped a little!

Yes, thank you!

Are there any rules against wearing goggles on certain attractions for safety reasons in case they fall off? I am worrying and obsessing a little, lol.

DS loves water parks and slides but has a quirky phobia about water in his eyes. Every time we go to a water park, or any pool for that matter, he gets by with speedo goggles. These are the swimming goggles, not the big snorkling goggles. They do just fine and he has a great time.

Soon after I first got contacts back in high school, I jumped in a friend's pool and opened my eyes under water. One of my contacts promptly slid to the side of my eye (at first I thought it fell out).

I don't go swimming that much, but ever since then I've kept my eyes shut underwater. Never had a problem in my couple visits to Disney and other water parks.

Of course, I don't wear disposables (my eyes don't like them), so if I lose a lens it's about $75... I might be a little more "adventurous" if I wore disposables.

I have worn my contacts to waterparks alot with no trouble. I have even opened my eyes more than once underwater with no problems. I usually carry a few spare sets to WDW just in case.
