Wash. Post story on Disney Hong Kong

I don't believe any of the parks had smooth openings. I assume Hong Kong Disneyland will right the ship and overcome any small problems within the near future. People, and companies, which try to do big things will always be criticized, and the focus will often be on the hole instead of the donut.

By the way, I think that the Washington Post and Disney have some sort of corporate connection. Nevertheless, the article appears to be reasonably objective.

This is my favorite quote of the whole article.

One woman who had earlier complained that it wasn't worth the price to visit by the end of the day had changed her mind. This is what she said.

"What impressed me most is the toilet. It's really good," said Li.

Who doesn't like the automatic toilets? :lookaroun
Well... they're automatic in a different way... when you're done and leave the toilet, the door will automaticly close and the whole place will be cleaned with hot water and chemicals... even the toilet itself will be literally turned up side down... totally automatic.

You know, on a related matter, there's a protype for an automatic doorknob cleaner for restrooms. Looks like an air freshener and hangs right over the . I'm surprised Disney hasn't sprung for them yet.

The only problem with the opening was that there were too many visitors for the park... so they closed it at maximum capacity, but the (obviously disappointed) people left outside the gate started to climb the fences, just to get in...
Never thought that those people would go berzerk just over a Disney Park... They absolutely lost it...

as the company stands by plans to open its park in Shanghai, which will be even bigger than the one here (in Hong Kong)
Well, it couldn`t be any smaller could it? I notice they also neglected to mention the `smooth ride` of Tokyo is mainly due to the fact TWDC don`t own it or pay for its upkeep...

Speaking of Hong Kong Disneyland, I recently heard a discussion with Marty Sklar and near the end of it he had an interesting bit of information about HKDL's It's A Small World. He said they are adding characters from Disney films along with their music to do something along the lines of what is done with the holiday overlay done at Disneyland. He said it would be similiar how they combined Christmas Music with the Small World song. He did not give any specifics on what characters would be added.

You can find the talk over at www.extinctattractionsclub.com, it is a podcast that they did.
