So, they wanted to close it, but first had to convince Mike Ovitz, who for a short time had Frank Wells' old job. When they knew he was coming for a tour of the park, ops arranged to put him in the worse sub they had. It rattled, it smoked, it stank of fuel, plus they poured in some water to give the impression that it leaked.
Ovitz came, rode the ride, and immediately authorized its closure.
