was this CM for real?

Yep. Sabotage.
Seriously.
Park Ops wanted to close the attraction, so they "sabotaged" it during an inspection by, then company presdent, Mike Ovitz.

Simple...and sad...as that.

I think the 5th theme park will be an Amercan based theme park, if there is to be a 5th theme park. Of course September 11th may dash that idea, Disney probably doesn't want to make itself any more of a potential target.

Ok, basically Park Ops hated the ride. It was very labor intensive, high maintenence, low capacity, out dated...the list goes on and on.
So, they wanted to close it, but first had to convince Mike Ovitz, who for a short time had Frank Wells' old job. When they knew he was coming for a tour of the park, ops arranged to put him in the worse sub they had. It rattled, it smoked, it stank of fuel, plus they poured in some water to give the impression that it leaked.
Ovitz came, rode the ride, and immediately authorized its closure.

Sabotage.

Whoever Said Everest may have replaced the volcano coaster idea...My thought is that everest is replacing the coaster planned for Beastly Kingdom...instead of encountering a Dragon...you encounter the yeti...which to me tells me Beastly Kingdom concept may be dead.

Lee,

Thanks for the info. First the Ovitz thing was a huge mistake on Eisner's part. Second, do you know if it was ever thought to bring it back. I doubt it, but just figured I would ask. I really like the ride.

Thanks again,
Mike

Once a rumor, always a rumor.

Just read a few of the good ole' Jim Hill articles (when he was GOOD and has GOOD info) to get all the info on the volcano coaster, etc. I've heard that Disney is PLANNING a 5th park, but that dosn't mean anything.
