Warrior Dash is actually pretty tame in the scale of the adventure runs. I usually say that Warrior Dash is for coworkers, and frat guys to get together, run through some mud, climb a rope, and drink a beer afterwards. It is a ton of fun to do, especially with a group of friends. The obstacles are fairly low pressure and not that difficult to handle if you are in reasonable shape. Then I would say Spartan Sprints, Tough Mudder, and regular Spartan Races all increase in difficulty/insanity. Followed by the Spartan Death Race. Scatter your other assorted local races somewhere around the Warrior Dash/Spartan Sprint level.

The obstacles will be things like climbing a cargo net, jumping over a burning log, walking a balance beam type thing, stuff like that. Can you get hurt? Yeah, if you fall and land awkwardly. But all in all it's more just doing basic PT type stuff, I'd say no different than the fitness tests we had to do back in high school. (If any high schools still even offer gym class now....)

Warrior dash is a blast. I did it last year with a group of people from work. It's definitely not an endurance race, as it's a 5k with obstacles. The obstacles are often enough that you really aren't moving forward too long before you have to wait your turn at tackling an obstacle.

Here's an example of how not serious it really is: in 3 weeks, i'll be running a half marathon in the morning followed by Warrior Dash in the afternoon. I do Warrior dash for the camaraderie with my friends and coworkers.

If you don't run at all, it can seem daunting, but it's much more about the adventure than the distance or time.
