I can't get the page to load. You can copy and paste as long as you identify where it came from. I'd be interested to read this as I've gotten a few emails about Disney vacation contests.

Q I received a prize notification from what appeared to be a fast-food restaurant.

It had in it a thank-you for participating in a promotion honoring Disney's Happiest Celebration on Earth game.

I don't remember playing the game.

It goes on to say that based on the drawing conducted by an independent judging organization, I am a potential grand-prize winner of a five-day, four-night trip for four to either Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort.

I am to complete and return an enclosed Declaration of Eligibility/Liability release to the Redemption Center that asks for all kinds of personal information including my driver's license number and Social Security number.

Is this a scam? It seems like it. Please advise.

A It's a scam, B.D.

First red flag: You didn't enter the contest.

Second red flag: Why do they need things like your driver's license and Social Security number and other personal information? If you entered such a contest, they would have the basics -- your name, address and telephone number and, maybe, e-mail address. They don't need any more.

If this came by mail, you might want to report this to a postal inspector at your local post office.

If it came over the Internet, you can contact the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov).

There are a whole range of "you have won X" scams on the go. The best rule - if it's too good to be true, it probably is.

Never give anyone calling you out of the blue your personal details. End of story.

If you have to pay money for anything that's supposed to make you money (Job, prize) or send in personal information it's a scam. Very simple rule to follow.

Best advice. I have a friend that falls for all kinds of stupid internet scams. You'd think he'd catch on but apparently not.

I've had another scam trying to get me. Someone kept calling saying they from "X" credit card company and that they were about to turn me into collection. They were demanding my personal info "or they weren't even going to work with me.".

First off, I don't even have "X" credit card and told them so, so then they start saying that I had to give them my SS number to confirm this fact.....sheesh! They didn't give up! They have called multiple times and I have reported the calls, including calling the real "X" CC company to advise them that a scam was going around using their company name and gave them any info I had.

I have also run a credit report on myself just to make sure no one out there had a CC using my good name and credit.... always a good idea to have credit reports every year to make sure nothing funky is going on with your credit.

Off subject a bit, but wanted to pass on this scam info as well.
