What even is an "animator" nowadays? It's certainly not guys bent over lightboards drawing sketches over and over and over again. And then sending them to the girls in the Ink & Paint Department to color in, before they get married to an animator, or God forbid, the mail boy.

But in all seriousness, what does an "animator", male or female, do in this Computer and AI Age we live in?

I'd actually be interested to learn how it all works now via computers, as I already know how it used to work with clear cels and paint brushes....

Basically draging and dropping dots on a vector based software. I'm sure it's more difficult than the way I'm making it sound.

By the way, Disney started using computers for their hand drawn films back in the 90s. They started using CAPS (Computer Animation Production System) starting with The Rescuers Down Under. It means that the animation was still drawn on paper but then it was scanned into a computer where they did the coloring and the layouts. No more inking and painting. By the way, the stopped with the inking process when they started using Xerox with 101 Dalmatians.
