I wanted to give you all a head up. Its been 5 months now, and I decided I should make the board aware. The ebay seller "welovetink" who mainly sells pins, and sometimes other disney items is a theif. She adverages 50 negatives a month. Yet people still buy from her! All of her negatives are the same... no item, no communication, kept money.

She personally took 300.00 from me, back in Feburary. I never got my pins i was going to surprise my partner with for our anniversary. She wont do a thing unless you take some sort of legal action against her. She lies and makes up thee sickest stories about why she couldnt ship...all lies.

This is just a warning. Dont take my word for it, look at her feedback. I just dont want to see any of my fellow board members taken for a ride like I was.

Thank you for letting me know. It is usally easy to sniff out a scam on ebay, but sometimes it is hard. Always look for how long they have been a member, if they just joined dont buy from them right away, and always look at the feedback. If the feedback is lower than 98% avoid because they are lying.

It's easy. Don't do business with Ebay!
I quite agree - I hear too many stories of either goods not arriving or if they do then they aren't the genuine article.
As far as Disney items are concerned - get them from Disney (on line if you can't visit the parks or a store); or shop online somewhere like Main Street Megastore

Another, totally unrelated scam, has also involved ebay, but also non-ebay sales.

The seller will have something fairly expensive for sale. (In the case that is online, it was a horse) An "overseas" buyer will respond, and a price is decided. The buyer will then say that he owes someone in the US money. He asks the seller to accept a check covering the amount of the purchase, PLUS the amount owed to the third person. The seller is supposed to "cash" the check, and give the balance to the person picking up the item, plus a little extra has been added for his trouble. The scam is complicated, but the original check is good, but it's on a bogus/stolen account, so it passes first inspection, but ends up bouncing a few weeks later.

In the case on the net, the third party wanted the money BEFORE picking up the horse, which made the seller suspicious. (The scammers don't really want the item, just the "cash.") She delayed delivery with multiple excuses, and contacted the police, who pulled in other fraud experts. The buyer started threatening her with legal action, etc, for cheating HER.

So it works both ways on ebay; sometimes it's the buyer who's a thief. As mentioned, I never use them, so don't worry about being cheated THAT way.

Now, about all the stolen Mastercard/Visa information!

As with any business that you aren't sure of, BE CAREFUL! Anyone can sell on EBAY, they try hard to monitor it, but if someone is listing tons of stuff, they can get alot of negative feedback before they get kicked off. If it sounds too good to be true it usually is, and some things are priced higher than retail, not just the collectible , unavailable stuff, but regular stuff you can get! Look at what shipping charges are, some will rip you off in the shipping. Charging 10 times the cost to make up for selling something cheap. Be educated, read the entire listing and look at feedback, noone who is honest will have less than 98%. Some seller are great honest people, some are out and out theives, buyers are dishonest also, if you want to do Ebay you just can't assume everyone is nice, they aren't!:(

My daughters sell on ebay. They have prided themselves with an HONEST side business. My wife's and I parents passed away during the last couple of years. The girls have gradually been selling little things on ebay. Nothing big. They only accept money orders (they want NO persons personal id information) and if the person insists on credit cards - they have to deal with paypal. Not everyone is out to rip people off. There have been thousands of transactions that have been smooth. While it is true there are people who are less then ethical - there are thousands who are honest. Don't judge everyone for a few.

There's nothing wrong with eBay... I have bought and sold many items on there without any problems over the years. From collectibles to tickets to new goods, all as described. That's not to say that you don't need to be careful, if they have any negative, few ratings, no pictures, etc I don't bid buy. Which leads me to my question, if you knew she had 50+ negative points, why did you still bid/buy from her?

I actually bought from welovetink a year or two ago and had no problems. They had no/few negatives at that point as well. Their service must have really gone down.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm surpirsed with all her negative feedback that Ebay doesn't take action. They should atleast kick her off.

Great advice from everyone. Please also be aware that a seller on ebay who has gotten a lot of negative feedback can also change their seller name and start over with a clean slate, sort of. I had trouble with one seller (not a Disney mdse seller) but she was the exception and all my other transactions were fine. I found out about 2 months afterwards that the seller who caused me problems (who had a 85% possitive rating, which is horrible) set up shop with a different name but it was the same lady. So buyers beware and research each seller carefully.

I sell once in a while on ebay. Everytime I sell it is for money to go to WDW, and the main problem that I have encountered is that people bid but dont pay. Out of maybe 30 auctions that I have sold 9 or 10 the person never sent money. I would always try to be easy on how fast they had to pay. I can understand if someone needed a few days until they got paid, or if something happened and they kept in touch with me about when they are going to pay. Its the ones that dont pay and after several emails you have to leave them negative feedback that gets them mad. Then the emails start coming in from them about this or that. I have never been ripped off when it comes to someone taking my money. You just have to be careful. Most of the people on ebay are good people, but there are always those few that mess it up

Sadly, given how reluctant Ebay was to do something about the Live8 tickets, I can't see them being all that concerned about this case.

I have only bought 1 item on ebay and sold none. Any the item which i brought didn't go to well. It was apparently posted, but it did not arrive in the aloted time, so the seller sent another (Identical) item, (Incase you are wondering the Item i brought was a signed Hilary Duff poster with COA.) And when it came it was brilliant. It wasn't the sellers fault and he still sent me another one. If you ever want a signed item or poster etc. The ebay sellers name is:
Autographprincess
He/She has sold over 3500 items with (I think) 100% feedback.

Thanks for the heads up! :)
