So, anyone here wanna know how everest was designed? Take a look in the Oct 27, 2003 issue of Forbes. An article called "How to build a Mountain" can be found in that issue, and the pictures are to die for. There is a CAD version of the Everest plans, among other images. If anyone has Forbes, and actually has that issue, and has a digital camera and/or scanner, could anyone post the pictures? And in case you really wat to see the article, back issues can be ordered from http://www.the-direct-source.com/product_info.php?cPath=23_118&products_id=957&osC

Just thought I'd let ya know it's out there. :)

Bill, what you could do, is purchase the article yourself... then you will have the pictures as well...

doesn't explain how everest was designed...

The article doesn't explain how the ride was designed, rather it explains how it was/is being built, which is really fascinating.

For how the design was created, well, Joe Rohde (one day after spending weeks thinking about the best mountain silhouette design for EE), while about to put his earings away before bed, he tripped and swiped his collection out over onto the floor. All his loop earings fell onto a carpeted area, creating this wondrous pile. Joe, amazed at the miraculous form of the pile of earings immediately sketched out an outline of his own for the EE mountain.

Fascinating story.

Ok, I posted the picture of the 4D computer model.

I apologize in advance for the poor quality. I don't have access to a scanner right now, so I cut the photo out and took a photo. Being spread over 2 pages, cutting was difficult, hence the sloppiness.

It might have been because I know he's been on a few of the specials. Trust Me.....if it were him you'd know. He's the only Imagineer with a giant Dream Catcher dangling from his ear.

Yes, then that was in fact him. I just thought it was funny because my boyfriend and I were watching it (I was actually making him watch it with me) and it was what most intrigued him.

So according to Lee's picture, will we see the top of the mountain built before the bottom? Looking at this picture makes it seem as though the mountain facade won't start until above the ground...

Don't read too much into that.
That simulation lets you peel away different layers of the design. In that photo, just enough was removed to let you see inside.
