Walt disney world christmas parade taping

Here is some info for those going to WDW around Dec 3 - 5 2009


Walt Disney World is now accepting general requests to attend the taping of the 2009 Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade. As expected, taping will take place during the first weekend of December, but this year, taping will also occur on the Thursday before, making the taping a total of three days, December 3 – 5. Thursday and Friday will consist of performance tapings at Cinderella Castle and in the Main Street USA area while Saturday will be the parade itself (which may also contain additional performances at select locations along the parade route). Guests may opt to choose 1, 2 or all 3 days at time of registration.
Sign-up is free and includes park admission to the Magic Kingdom for the remainder of the day (note guests who exit the park after the taping may not be allowed re-entry without other legitimate admission media

Does anyone know how far in advance they will let you know if you are selected? We signed up for this on the 22nd and we got and email confirmation, but still it says we will be notified if we are chosen.

Any ideas? We would be driving down for the weekend and I will need to book a hotel.

Tickets and confirmation???

Since they have done the tickets so early this year, I am hoping that someone may not want to use all their tickets or pass some along. If there is anyone that is not going to use all theirs, please let me know. I would be grateful! I ended up passing along 4 additional tickets last year...and it was a great time to be had by all.

Well now I am really confused.

When I talked early in Oct to a Disney rep on the phone while trying to get tickets and reservations (didn't get a disney room darn it!) the rep stated that the parties were 11/29 12/1 12/4 and 12/6 with no parity on 12/3.

Yet the disney site has it 12/3?

Does seem strange for 3 parties in a 4 day period.

do they still take down the decorations for some of the parade taping?

The garland that is strung from one side of Main Street to another is removed during the taping to accommodate the floats. And, in previous years, they set up the giant tree in the rose garden instead of at the end of Main Street for the taping to prevent sight lines from being disrupted. Last year, however, they just waited to set up the tree until after the taping.

So yes, decorations are impacted in some ways for the taping.
