Here is some info for those going to WDW around Dec 3 - 5 2009

Walt Disney World is now accepting general requests to attend the taping of the 2009 Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade. As expected, taping will take place during the first weekend of December, but this year, taping will also occur on the Thursday before, making the taping a total of three days, December 3 – 5. Thursday and Friday will consist of performance tapings at Cinderella Castle and in the Main Street USA area while Saturday will be the parade itself (which may also contain additional performances at select locations along the parade route). Guests may opt to choose 1, 2 or all 3 days at time of registration.
Sign-up is free and includes park admission to the Magic Kingdom for the remainder of the day (note guests who exit the park after the taping may not be allowed re-entry without other legitimate admission media

Info is from

http://www.stitchkingdom.com/2009/10/22/registration-for-2009-walt-disney-world-christmas-day-parade-taping-now-open-days-extended/

Hope this helps

So, should the park be avoided on these days? Or will everybody be pre-occupied with the parade taping resulting in shorter line-ups for the rides?

Many guests will plant themselves around the filming of the parade. It is indeed a good time to catch shorter lines throughout the park.

Thanks to Palisades

Honestly, every good tip I have ever gotten for Disney World is right here on WDWMagic! We have been at the taping the last two years and will be there this time of year again. It's great to know you can get reliable info from the people on these forums. Thanks again!

Just thought I would let you all know, that I just tried to register online for the christmas parade. The site states you have until Dec 2 to register, how ever that is not true. When I tried to register it told me that on-line registration was no longer available. Unless I did something wrong the registration closed down early. I am just letting you all know just incase anyone was interested. If anyone does have any luck please let me know:wave:

Many thanks for the info folks! In '03 we had the chance to be one of the families to be filmed sending their Xmas greetings to the masses during the taping. We "missed it by that much". Great opportunity to be part of the celebration, but don't know if we would have enjoyed sitting thru the taping process. Heard crowd horror-stories regarding Xmas parade taping days and avoided MK like the plague. The price to pay for 15 seconds of fame I suppose:shrug:

34 days and counting!:hammer:

Ok, so I've already planned out our trip and what parks we're going to on what day and all of that. So, on December 3rd it just so happens we're going to be at the Magic Kingdom because we're going to MVMCP that evening. This may be a stupid question but are we going to be able to get into the Magic Kingdom that day or is it only reserved for people who are doing the parade taping? :xmas:

We are going to our first MVMCP on Dec the 3rd...will the christmas parade taping that is going on that day detract fromt he MVMCP? Or should everything be cleaned up and main street be open again for the MVMCP that night? I'm afraid that we picked a bad day to go.

Gone gone gone???

Last year they waited until literally the last minute to post the tickets, this year they are gone more than a month in advance??? Is that the only way to obtain tickets to the Christmas taping this year??? The registration site has definitely closed down. Any information would be great! Have a Mickey Day!

This is actually a really great day to go. We have taken the kids for the past 4 years and it's a wonderful day to be in the park. I don't think they did the MVMCP on the same day last year, but it was done only on Fr/Sat. I believe the years before you had to leave the park, and repurchase tickets to stay for the MVMCP. Hope you have a great stay!

Yeah, we were probably going to another park during the day that day....we were just heading to MK for MVMCP that night, I was afraid Main Street would still be blocked off or disrupted in some capacity for the next 2 days of taping.

If you look at the info in my first post. Dec. 3 will have taping etc around the Castle. Same on Dec 4. Only shows Dec 5 as the Parade taping day.

For those who have done it. If you go in the evening of Dec. 5 lets say after the Parade taping in the day, is it still crowded?

Wishes fireworks and Spectromagic are that night.

Im curious about Dec. 3 The info I have seen said there is no MVMCP that night. Only on 11/29 12/1 (this is when I am going) 12/4 and 12/6 for that week.

Yet there are people here on the board that are going on the Dec3

What gives? Is it a special MVMCP event or something?
