Clair de Lune - Presented by Delta
In 1969, the United States had landed on the moon, during the peak of excitement in space travel and aeronautical technology. From space, the earth looks peaceful and majestic. Even from the air, the earth is also a peaceful place. Glide along with Delta as you experience the earth from above, and all of the beauty it harnesses.
You glide up in a Delta galactic plane, and soar over the world. This technology will combine the Hogwarts Express, Star Tours, and Soarin' - 40+ years before they were created! Inspired by Delta Dreamflight and if you had wings...journey along on Clair de Lune...French for "light of the moon" on this aeronautical adventure.
Queue
Set up in a similar location to where Monster's Inc Laugh Floor is today at the Magic Kingdom, you will walk through a queue that depicts the successes of flight and space travel through the years, starting with the Wright Brothers, all the way up to the Lunar Landing. You will approach the terminal, where you board your flight around the world..and walk through the tunnel to your aircraft.
You board the aircraft that looks very much like an actual plane. It seats around 120 guests per ride, and the ride is around 5 minutes.
Ride-Through
The ride begins softly, as your plane exits the terminal and towards the runway...the name of the attraction becomes apparent soon, as Claude Debussy's famous composition Clair de Lune, plays in the background, creating a very relaxing and mellow atmosphere.
You lift off and feel the rollicking of your seat as you coast into the clouds, out your window on either side. The night falls over and as you ascend, you can begin to see cities from around the world, lit up at night as you soar past
Chicago
You gaze down at Times Square in New York City, as you continue your flight around the world from above.
London
Traveling swiftly to Paris at night as well, seeing the Effiel Tower in the background.
Tokyo
Then you begin to ascend even further, as you break the clouds and see the northern lights in the distance
You realize you have broken the atmosphere and the roof of the plane opens up to reveal a window where you gaze out onto the dark horizon. You can feel a slight sensation of zero gravity as you look out onto the beautiful earth below, with the moon on the distance.
You then feel the force of rotating slowly backwards and gliding back down to earth - for your landing and return to Tomorrowland
Basically...a combination of Delta Dreamflight, Spaceship Earth, Soarin', and Star Tours technology
