Walt Disney Movie?

Does anyone recall if there was ever a movie about the life of Walt Disney? I don't mean a documentary. I'm talking about a movie (TV or otherwise) with an actor playing Walt. If so, what was the name of it, when was it made, and who played Walt? If not, who would you think would be the best choice to play him? Also, other than this year's "100 year celebration" and the statue in front of the castle, doesn't it seem strange that there really isn't much devoted to Walt himself? Maybe I'm just unaware of anything else that recognizes Walt as the creator of the WDW concept. I haven't forgotten that it's "Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress", and "Walt Disney World". It just seems that Walt Disney has become a name, and not a person. There should be a (permanent) attraction where people can go to learn about Walt. Why not an animatronic attraction featuring Walt?

no movie has ever been made about Walt Disney, he was in Annettes movie, A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes but I cant remember what actor played him. I would love some day to travel to Marceline, Missouri because I am sure they have more there dedicated to Walt then any of the parks. I was surprised that the celebration there wasnt covered more. And there is even an elementry school there named for him :) that has one of a kind murals drawn by disney animators and the disneyland flag :)

in that annette movie, he was played by len cariou. he did a pretty good job. i believe that was the only time a film has featured an actor playing walt disney.

there are documentries about Walt Disney. Just wondered though ..if they did make a movie ..where would they start? I would think they might start in Marceline, since it was a very special place in his life.

Well... I get the History Channel, A&E, People and Arts, E!, Hallmark, etc., and never seen any documentary about Walt Disney. I have even seen the Judy Garland new one!
:( ;)
I wish they would show one soon about him...

Walt: The Man Behind the Myth, is the only one I can think of .. there was another one .. I think was on TLC not very long ago I am sure there are others that know for sure what has been done on Walt Disney. I havent been this year yet .. but I think "Walt Disney: One Man's Dream, at MGM is partly another documentary

There was at least one other instance that I know of where Walt was a character in a movie played by an actor.

The film is RKO 281, and is about the making of CITIZEN KANE. There is a scene where the heads of every studio in Hollywood meet to discuss what to do about Orson Welles and the film given that William Randolph Hearst has threatened to expose nasty secrets about all of them if the film is released. Walt was played by Roger Allam.

I too think it would be great to see a real movie made about Walt (or even a full-fledged documentary). Such an inspiring story, I'm amazed that no one has done anything with it yet. Here Disney's film division is floundering, and they've got a golden story right under their noses...

Here is a link http://199.97.97.16/contWriter/endnews2/2001/09/17/enter/0461-0376-pat_nytimes.html to an article about "The man behind the Myth" and "The man behind the mouse" which was created to combat the damage done by the Myth show. I know the Myth episode ran last fall on A&E and can be purchased anywhere online. I don't think Man behind the Mouse was released publically though. Both sound very interesting but documentries are usually very hazardous. Things can get blown out of proportion very quickly. I wish The Disney Channel would go back to showing some of the old stuff that shows what Walt is all about.

I agree .. you would think during this year there would be some sort of special on the Disney Channel .. heck I miss the show Disney Inside Out too.
