Walking to the park

I will be spending a week in Anaheim this spring and will be staying at the Anabella Hotel which is across the street from California Adventure. Looking at Live Local pictures, it looks like we can walk across the street and go through a small opening to the Timon lot. From there we can take a tram to the entrance. First, is this feasible and second is the Timon lot used so that trams frequently stop there?

We are not getting a rental car nor would I want to pay for parking when I am right across the street. Also we will be going during the evening mostly since my wife has an expo to work at during the day. Does evening hours change the tram schedules? I doubt any of this is an issue, but since I am used to WDW operations, I don't want to have a big surprise when I get there.

I stayed there last June! I really liked it there. You can cut through the Timon lot, but I found it easier to cut through the Grand Californian to get to the gate. A lot of other people were doing the same thing, and it's what the woman at the front desk of the hotel told me was quickest. In the evening when I was tired, I took the little Anaheim Transport bus back to the hotel.

I've got a few pictures in the link in my signature if you're interested.

We stayed at the anabella before and used the anaheim transport bus, too. We found it was really convenient because it took us right up to the park entrances. You do so much walking at the parks that it seems like a little extra saved walking is a good thing. :)

The parking lot trams to Timon generally run for an hour after Disneyland's closing time.

You can also get to Downtown Disney, or either park, by walking up Disneyland Drive on the west side of the property. Disneyland Drive leads to the entrance of the Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, and you can walk through that hotel to get to Downtown Disney or either park. The Grand Californian is also a nice place to visit just for fun, or for drinks or dinner in the hotel restaurants and lounges. Follow the signs in the Grand Californian lobby for the pathway past the conference center to get to Downtown Disney, where more restaurants and shops await.

The Anabella isn't the most convenient hotel of the bunch for Disneyland, DCA, or Downtown Disney specifically. But it is extremely convenient for the Anaheim Convention Center, and it's not more than a 10 minute walk to Downtown Disney or the Disneyland main gate.

I have to second what most people here have to say, but one thing that I would VERY MUCH suggest is taking some time to enjoy a walk through the lobby of the Grand Californian. Go upstairs and take a look at the lobby floor from the 2nd floor! There some rather unique floor work done that you might enjoy! Have fun!

Yep Yep

Plus, take time to meet the pianist in the lobby... and Hope that Jamie is there... she is amazingly talented!

Two weeks ago I was lounging near the hearth in the Grand Californian lobby, and I was there while they story teller came around. It was rather entertaining and the woman was a masterful tale weaver. :) It was fun for adults and kids (though I think she moved a bit quickly for the kids to actually interact, but every one had their attention GLUED to her). If you happen to see the story teller - don't dash away! Hang out and enjoy. :) Relaxing by the hearth is a favorite place to rest my tired feet. :)
