Walking to FW from WL

I'm staying at the Wilderness Lodge on my trip in November and have heard that you can walk from the Lodge to Fort Wilderness. I was planning on having breakfast at Trail's End one day and would like to walk over from the Lodge. Anyone know how long it takes to walk over?

Mystic, I've never walked the path, but according to MousePlanet.com, it's about 1.1 miles. Personally, I'd rather take the boat anyway. Have a great time, tho. :)

We walked this to go to Hoop de Do. I think it took us about 20 minutes. But we were walking slowly and checking things out.

Also, we ran across a deer as we were walking. Had to take lots of pictures and video! So that also accounted for the extra time.

I would recomend the walk, it was nice.

Thanks guys. Think I'll plan to head out about 30-40 min before my breakfast ressie to make sure I have plenty of time to enjoy the walk and be in time for breakfast. We want a nice quiet start to our morning before heading to the park for the day and thought this might be a good way to start it.

Does anyone know how I can catch a bus to MGM from Pioneer Hall?

Pioneer Hall is at the back of the campgrounds so you would have to work your way back to the main bus stops at the front. If you want you can walk to the dock (not too far from PH) and take the boat to either the WL or the TTC and transfer there.

Where exactly at Fort Wilderness does the path end? Is it near the back at Pioneer Hall? I've seen where it starts at WL. We did a Holiday Sleigh Ride at WL last Christmas and were on it part of the way. Thanks.

Actually the bus to MGM goes from the bus stop next to Pioneer Hall. There are 2 bus stops at FW, one at the Pioneer Hall end, and one at the far other end of the campground. We made this mistake when we were there, assuming that the MGM bus must go from the far one, but after waiting for a while and not seeing a bus or a sign for a bus, we asked, and were told that the MGM bus left from the other stop, which is just directly across from PH. Hence the photo that makes up my avatar....:sohappy:

The path from WL ends at the stables/petting zoo area. I'm not sure where Pioneer Hall is located.

And I agree that the early morning walk is very peaceful, and I've always seen deer, along with other small animals.

Thanks OctoberBarry, I know the stop you're referring to. When I come out of Trail's End (next to Pioneer Hall) I need to turn right and walk in the opposite direction from the docks. I believe the petting zoo is between Pioneer Hall and the bus stop in question.
