Walking offsite from AK lodge?

Just out of curiosity, can you walk from the AK Lodge to nearby restaurants and shops? It looks like there is a service road (highlighted in the attached image) off Osceola Parkway past a staff parking lot towards a liquor store, restaurants and other shops. I apologize if this has been asked before.

That road is blocked by a fence.

No. Many moons ago you use to be able to enter and leave by that road, but as @JaxFLBear pointed out, it has since been gated off.

So the only way to escape Disney property is to swim across alligator-infested waters! LOL. (Not making light of the alligator attack last year.)

I'm not sure if you're renting a car. If you are, that's probably your best bet.

If you're asking about walking between the two sides of the Lodge (Jambo and Kidani), the answer is yes.

If you're asking about walking between the Lodge and the Animal Kingdom theme park, the answer is no.

I assumed they meant AKL, as in Jambo House.

But I now realise they could have meant the park itself. Oops!
