Walk up seating available?

We are going to Disney Feb 12-18th for our first trip.:sohappy: 8 people in our group including 3 children (11, 8, 6) and the 6 year old is special needs. We got the dining plan so I made character meal reservations for each day but now I'm rethinking that. My children really don't know many of the characters and don't particularly care to see any of them. I want them to experience a few of them but I'm wondering if I should cancel some of the character meals and just do regular sit down meals. Do you think we will be able to walk up and get seating at most places or should I make reservations for those?

All thoughts appreciated!

You will need to make reservations for any and all table service dining especially with a party of that size. It is tricky for a party of 2 to get walk up reservation. Getting one with a party of 8 would be akin to winning the lottery while simultaneously being hit by lightning and being bitten by a shark. I would not cancel what you have until you can secure an alternative.

I wouldn't go without having reservations for all TS meals, especially due to the size of your party. If you don't make ressies, you may end up waiting 2 hours for a table somewhere or wandering around aimlessly & finally settling for some CS that you really didn't want. We made that mistake with a party of 6. Ended up walking around the WS at Epcot for over an hour & then eating fish & chips sitting on a curb. It was memorable if nothing else.

I'd call 407 WDW DINE or go online to look at some TS reservations. They usually give you other options that are open if the particular TS you are looking for is booked. If something is booked, doesn't hurt to call/check every day to see if it opens up.

But I agree w/the masses...book Advance Dining Reservations BEFORE you go! Have a great trip!

Agreed! Otherwise they shouldn't be called ADVANCED Dining Reservations. :p
