Walk up dining?

We will be in Disney April 6-11. Fortunately we have reservations for all meals but not all are great times. What are the chances walk up dining is available in sit down restaurants through the park and resorts? Also if you show up earlier than your reservation do they try to accommodate you or is it a hard no for your time. Thanks!

I would not count on walk up. The weeks before and after Easter are always busy. For your dates, currently there are no park reservations available for the 4/6-7, Epcot only for 4/8-10, and AK and Epcot on the 11th. This tells me that things will be quite busy and the chances of showing up early or walking up and getting seated are slim. You might have better luck at a resort restaurant, but with limited capacity for dining, even that would be slim.

Guests are asked to check in online for a table service reservation and cannot do so until 15 minutes prior to the reservation time. (A notification will alert you if your settings are on.) If you show up early you won’t even be allowed inside the restaurant. The best thing to do is keep checking for alternate times as people do cancel, especially the day before to avoid the $10/person no show fee.

You can show up early, and they will try to accommodate you, but often times it's a waste of time. We did this for the Plaza, for example, and we were asked to sit in the area, and they still couldn't get us a table until five minutes past our reservation time. It was fine for us because my kid needed a break, but we ended up sitting around for an extra twenty minutes for no reason.

We have shown up early at several MK restaurants and were told you can’t check in more than 15 minutes before your reservation time. We have checked in early at several restaurants in Epcot, and we were checked in early. But those restaurants are not operated by Disney per se.

The reason for ADR's is so Disney can plan out table space and timing out the highest possible number of reservations within a days time period. When cancellations come in they can sometimes squeeze in walk ups if they havent been re-reserved. But especially for the more popular restaurants you will find less available tables, especially now since tables have been shut off due to spacing. The odds of you getting in as a walk up are not favorable.

It’s really going to depend on the restaurant. You’ll probably have a better chance at the resorts and DS than you will at the parks. But timing (and a good dose of luck) as they say is everything.
