Wake Up Calls

When we were at Pop Century just before Easter, we arranged a wake up call surprise for our teenage daughter. We thought it would be so cute for her to answer the phone and hear Mickey or whoever it is waking her up. We arranged to be up early before the call, so that we could be sure she got the phone. When it rang, it woke her up, and we said, "Honey can you get that?" She put the phone to her ear and after a few seconds, much to our surprise, slammed it back down with a disgusted grunt. "Honey, what was that all about?" I meekly asked. Her reply: "Just some stupid music so I hung up on it".

My guess was that it was A Wish is a Dream Your Heart Makes. Evidently her wish was to keep going with the dreams she was already making!

We teased her the rest of the week about hanging up on Mickey.

Hehe, too cute.

I believe there are different ones - I know the first day I got Mickey, but I swear it was Goofy who woke me up another day. Then again, I was 1/2 (3/4?) asleep so probably wasn't all that with it. ;)

I remember a few years back, we convinced my brother in law to go to Disney. You have to understand that he absolutely hated Mickey. He really wasn't very excited about going. That first night, he called for a wake up call, not knowing how he would be greeted that next morning. Wouldn't you know, Mickey himself was on the other end early that morning. Amazing. He has gone back a number of times since that trip and now actually wears clothes with characters on them. I say all thanks to that first morning wake up call. "Oh Boy! Where sure your glad your here..." hahahaha

We've had Mickey, Goofy, and when we stay at the Poly, it has been Stitch. When my nieces went the first time, their mother (my cousin) set the alarm clock to wake up. When they returned I asked her about the wake up call, and she said that they didn't need a wake up call with the alarm clock in the room. Two years later they went back to WDW with our group in tow. When I set up a wake up call, my cousin answered the phone to hear Mickey waking her up. She never used the alarm clock again. Our kids (18, 17 and 14) fight over who will answer the phone in the AM to hear the wake up call.

Last few times we went, we had the stitch/mickey wake up call. I seem to remember that it starts out with music for a few seconds and then mickey's voice comes on the line and he's quickly interrupted by stitch.

if your daughter had stayed on the line a few seconds longer, she would have heard mickey and stitch.

We love the wake up call!! :sohappy: When we first took our daughter (our first time on property too) we called for a wake up but we didn't know it would be Mickey. So my husband didn't say anything, the next morning he told my daughter to answer it and the look on her face was wonderful!! She was so excited that Mickey called her to tell her to get up. Now each morning one of us answers, so we each get a turn to get the Mickey call. It's a wonderful way to start the day at Disney! :sohappy:
