I was hired for F&B in March.I didn't know until the last day of training where I was being placed and found that I would be working around things I have high allergies to! I was terminated and told to re-apply. Second casting interview I accepted a different role after being told I shouldn't have gotten terminated to begin with! I've been "waiting" on a role since April, and have been told if a role doesn't come available by October I would have to re-apply. Even though I checked the job board and the role I applied for has posted since I applied! Sorry for the drawn out story but my experience so far has been very unpleasant

Yes if you get no calls or emails by October apply again. The thing is with you being persistent, they might like that and it could work in your favor.

One Little Spark...
Never ending amusement from this section of the forums...

1) If you have a contact allergy (which is different than one that requires ingestion...for example, if you have a peanut allergy, coming into contact with peanut products is fine, as long as you don't ingest them)...you should have informed them up front if that was an issue, not let them waste training cycles on you. That was disrespectful to your employer.

2) I couldn't quite gather from your post if you are still employed in a different role, or if you are still applying for some reason.

3) Your issues with your first posting being something you didn't fulfill (after accepting the training paychecks) will be remembered and noted.

4) You can apply all you like, but there is a difference between persistence and annoyance. Just keep that in mind. Especially for entry level work (as it sounds like you are looking for).

Unfortunately, peanut allergies are one of the few food allergies that don't require ingestion. Skin contact - even the residual left after wiping down an area, or inhaling particulate matter can trigger a life threatening reaction in some people. But anyone with those reactions should never even think about working in F&B as peanut products are so pervasive.

Thank you (domasuke) I got an email today asking me to come to the casting center to accept a different role.(englanddg) your bitterness is becoming of you.The fact that you don't have a medical degree or a life (you know since you search these threads for amusement),is the very reason I'm not dignifying your comments with a response! (The Mom) since the idiot above assumed that peanut oil and any other food isn't highly allergic unless you ingest it is the reason I applied. It was three other roles I listed and had experience in and I reiterate I didn't know until the 2nd day of training I would be stationed at a restaurant that wanted me to prepare and clean around things I've been allergic to my entire life! Point taken I spoke IMMEDIATELY to my recruiter and as a different recruiter told me at my second interview I was handled with incorrectness. I should have seen some one in health and safety to verify my allergies(food and non food) and they would have sent me to a role that doesn't require for me to never come in to contact with any allergies! Remember safety-d begins with me.What was disrespectful was the fact that I'm being ridiculed for telling my experience. I'm a cast member again and that's all that matters. Good day all!

I've never encountered anyone with that level of sensitivity. But, I'll take your word for it.

We have a friend whose son is severely allergic to peanuts. I know when they fly, he has to fly the first flight in the morning so that the plane is as free of peanut dust as possible.

It's not for his/her beliefs. I pay a physician for the diagnosis I was given, someone's health is not a debate. Even soaps, detergents, latex, insect bites, the simple touch from something you are allergic to can give you a rash or outbreak (severe or mild) and no one should work in those conditions! I noticed I was mocked for being entry-level, some people actually work to pay for school and not use the government.

Although many contact allergies are not life threatening, per se, they can cause skin breakdown which can become infected, and if it continues over a long period of time it can become life threatening. Aside from being extremely uncomfortable and even painful. Many people can develop contact reactions after multiple exposures - knew a nurse who was allergic to penicillin, and after years she became so sensitive that she couldn't even touch someone who was receiving it without wearing gloves - it was in their sweat. She finally had to stop working because she was hospitalized when someone who had touched a patient touched her. Just couldn't take the risk anymore.

The OP did not make it clear in his original post that he had listed allergies before being assigned - it appears that he mentioned them on his application. My father had allergies to many cleaning products, so would have had a hard time working with them. Not enough to be life threatening (but who knows what would have happened after repeated exposure) but enough to make his life miserable.

It appears that he didn't know that he would be exposed to one of his until after his assignment, so WDW terminating him due to allergies was a bad move on their part. Glad to see that they found a different spot for him.

Ive taken a part time job in the schools around here and there are peanut allergy signs EVERYWHERE.

It seems to be a growing insane allergy. Which means I probably broke this because I brought a peanut butter & jelly sammich with me today....
