Waiting Lines

Hi,

Just wanted to know your thoughts on this:

It seems that everywhere you go at Disney there are waiting lines.

Waiting lines for hotels
Waiting lines to go into parks
Waiting lines for attractions
Waiting lines for restaurants
Waiting lines for buses and
Waiting lines for bathroom

This is my first time going to Disney from 10 August to 15 August, I understand there is alot of people but I guess this will be a kind of waiting in lines vacation.

Q: What did you do on your vacation in Disney?
A: Waited in lines

:D

lol

I am going around the same time as you are, fastpasses are good but if you choose to wait inline...supposingly if theres two lines for one ride you should go to the left line rather than the right line because youll get to the ride quicker, by going to the left line.

Or during the Fireworks is the best time for short lines as well.

The Average Person spends 5 years waiting in lines.

I will probally much excede that, Disney isn't helping that statistic any.

I have been to Disney during every time of the year. No matter how crowded it was I never stood in a line for more than 20 minutes unless I just felt like standing in a line. Disney offers so many ways around lines that you don't have to wait in them if you really don't want to:

Fastpass and Extra-Magic Hours will help you to see most of the big stuff, fill in the most crowded times of day with the things there are no lines for(Carousel of Progress, Railroad, Tom Sawyer Island, World Showcase at EPCOT-except Norway, and the Imagination Pavilion, and Spaceship Earth after midday when all the tourgroups have finished filing through the first ride.) MGM and Animal Kingdom have the same sort of things that never have lines. Anyway, the point of all this rambling is that the lines at Disney with respect to the length of time spent in an attraction are the shortest in the world...no joke, a study was done by The Wall Street Journal a while back. You just have to have the right mindset and enough time(5 or 6 days)

In response to the rest of your post, you will wait in line at the hotel, for buses and at restaurants...but not in bathrooms, and if you read and listen to the essay I wrote above not at attractions.:D

I highly doubt that...
I don't remember where I heard that, but I definately believe it. Think about it, you wait for Food, wait at the Grocery Store, Wait at Traffic Lights, Wait at Disney (see 1st post), wait at the DMV, Airports, Stores, you end up waiting just about everywhere, if you realize it or not.

Toms Island? Ya there is...I was there last time and there was a line not to mention you gotta cross on those raft things but it should take all 5 mins. Even TTA had a line last time I went.

5 Years though...thats kinda crazy maybe 1 or 2 years but not not 5 years...
Unless you include waiting for downloads and playing Strategy PC games lol...

I could see it. The reason why is because I just thought of all the lines I wait in:
Banks
Clerk's Office at the Court House
Casino Line where they're checking id's
Line to get into the club on a weekend night
Movie theatre's on a weekend
Of course amusement parks
checkout lines at stores
Getting seated at a popular restaurant
Get the idea?

After a 12 year hiatus, I have visitied Disney parks three times starting in 2002, and no line I stood in was anywhere near as hellish as the ones I experienced in the pre-FastPass days.

I remember wasting up to an hour and a half in line for a single attraction back in the 90s. The longest line I have experienced recently was about 35 minutes. Not bad at all!

It's true that once you know your way around and use fastpass you won't wait as long. I couldnt believe we had to wait more than an hour to check in at our resort last time. I didn't mind though, I was at disneyworld!

I believe that the more experience you have at Disney, the more you learn to avoid lines. You may fastpass a "big" ride then go hop on a continously moving attraction like Carousel of Progress or the Haunted Mansion. Maybe even get something to eat if you are tired. I used to think the same thing...everywhere you go you wait in line and in some places that is true, but there are ways in the parks of getting around them.

"Foster, get in there and check it out!!!"

To Suzie, you said you've never been there, so it sounds like you're falling into the trap that so many people do. I have friends who always say things like "oh, your whole vacation is just waiting in lines! its such a waste!", they then go to Six Flags or the beach (where the lines are often worse).

For one thing, Disney has the best crowd control of any venue i've ever seen. Part of that is simply how the walkways are layed out in between attractions, it manages how many people get to a location at once.
Another, they (traditionally) typically divided their lines into 2 seperate queues to effectively cut the wait time in half, BTMRR or Space Mountain did this before fastpass, though The Haunted Mansion does it as well with 2 stretch rooms, but its "hidden" from the guests.
Fastpass! In most cases it cuts the time down, even for standby riders.
Single-rider lines.
Also, Disney has loading procedures down to a science, things like moving walkways expedite the process.
Finally, even the queues are part of the attraction! There's almost always something to look at while waiting, or even mini-activities along the way. Also, many queues feature a "presentation room" of some sort about 3/4 along the way to break up the monotony (RnRC, ToT, HM, TT, Dinosaur)

I have alot of trouble convincing people that the lines are better at WDW than anywhere else in the world, but preconcieved notions are often impossible to overcome.

Right now I'm kind of worried about everything because I only have 16 days left to go.

And I'm a nervous wreck, just wanted to know what everyone thought about it.

Guess I'll see for myself once I'm at Disney.

Thanks gang.

I've never waited in line at the beach
