I have to say, I'm still confused why the recipe for the waffle batter would call for powdered sugar vs. granulated; however, as I thought on this over the course of the day- I got what I consider to be a fabulous idea. ;) You could make hot glazed waffles with whatever icing sugar you have left. Icing sugar is ideal for a glaze and if you can have glazed donuts - why not a waffle? :D
Yeh! Agree..I think it's a typing error on the pamphlet that came with the waffle maker.

Thanks everyone..My silly recipe book that came with the Mickey waffle maker said Icing sugar,so the first batch was Yuch .So Ive made the new batch with granulated sugar.Awesome..Thats with Vanilla extract, cinnamon, lemon juice. The reason I'am making them today is we are snowed in.It has been snowing heavy since midnight,Thats 13 hrs ago..The snow has completely covered my car in our driveway. Our front window is almost completely covered..no satellite TV.The police have issued a severe snow weather storm for the next 48 hours..In all my years living in the south west coast of Scotland,Ive never seen it so bad.It is like a scene from the film " The day after tomorrow " Thank god for waffles & whisky.:( P.S. Our electric keeps going off & on..

Wow, we live in Clermont (30 minutes from Disney) and I had to wear a hoodie yesterday morning which made me so sad, I guess I should just be thankful! I hope you guys keep warm and enjoy your waffles, sounds like you need a little special magic in your day!

Icing sugar also has about 3% corn starch in it. So I wonder if that affected the consistency of the waffles.

It very well could have. With cornstarch being a flour alternative, even something as small as 3% could throw off your flour to sugar ratio in a less flexible recipe. I've experimented with it in cakes and never had any negative issues, but a pound cake is more forgiving than a pastry...or in this case, a waffle.
