Well the cynic in me thinks that whatever wins will be the next target in the US for terrorists :(. It upsets me that this is the way I think on things like this now :(.

On a side note I would think that the Statue of Liberty was the first thing many immigrants saw upon entering America. This has been the symbol of America for many generations.

Don't worry about the Statue becoming a terror target, according to the government it (or anything else in New York) doesn't qualify as a "national monument or icon."

As for this vote, it's hard for one thing to represent America, so it's virtually impossibly to like these choices. I'd almost rather vote for something like the Mall of America, for although I loathe the mall culture, it really is indicative of the homogenized suburban culture we live in. (For that matter, I'd like to be able to select a place like Levittown, NY or Bloomington, MN or New Carrollton, MD or New Canaan, CT or Lake Forest, IL or half of New Jersey, but I'm getting over my head here...)

I would have picked *Disneyland*, but it's not an option. Though I consider WDW my "home" Disney Park, Disneyland is the one that started it all, and it's still the charmer to this day.

As far as symbols go, however, the Statue of Liberty is a solid choice. I think it would be rather sad if WDW overtook it, as that would be Disney-geekism at its worst...

In the next couple of weeks MSNBC.com will be sending a multimedia team to the place you have voted for to ask citizens what America means to them. And later this month we will present your responses in a special photo-audio presentation. We’ll publish the results in a week or so — and then our reporting team will be heading to the place you have chosen.

You remind me of a Calvin and Hobbes strip where the kid revels in messing with data. :p

Of course, this "vote" is part of a fluff piece for MSNBC and not something important, so I guess the truth of the outcome doesn't really matter...

Make my words: by tomorrow morning, Disney World will be in SECOND position.

Unless someone from GatewayArchMagic.com or FaneuilHallMagic.com does his own bit of vote-hacking...

I'm really suprised that they don't use IP addresses to make sure that doesn't happen
