VMK (Virtual Magic Kingdom) Will This Ever Return

I am 27... but my Disney obsession started a few years back as an adult (probably 24) when my girlfriend and I randomly decided Disney would make a great vacation. We had each been to the world several times as children, but it wasn't until we discovered the parks together that it exploded from there.

I recently began reading Kingdom Keepers... and notice VMK played a big role in the books. I did some research and I am so jealous I wasn't in the Disney circles back then, the game seemed amazing.

Has anyone heard any rumblings of a possible return, even in a new format under a new name?

I don't think so the day the closed that day but i did find OpenVMK.com which will be open pretty soon cheak it out and he has a twitter @OVMK_nick

I know someone online who works as a programmer for Disney. He was a huge VMK fan so when he started, he inquired about it. Turns out, the database and the source code were all purged from the systems. So except for the code and such which was saved by fans, it's been totally "killed" by Disney.

I wish I could get it to work. When I try to launch VMK the pop-up window loads Shockwave, then it just flashes with a (could not connect) message and refreshes to the main site page

ah, so it doesn't work on IE or Firefox, but trusty Chrome works just fine


oops! spoke too soon. Won't work even on Chrome even though it gets further along. I see the message about loading furniture, then the screen goes black

I remember playing this game in like 2nd and 3rd grade in the computer lab at an elementary school my dad used to work at... It was the BEST thing EVER!!

I wish they'd do a new version. It wouldn't necessarily have to be the exact same thing. Call it VMK+. A + sign is usually Disney's way of thinking anyways.

finally got it to work. had to do it from home - work must have a firewall preventing some traffic
