Visiting Christmas Week

Hello all,

I'm a seasoned Disney vet. But just had a few questions. I will visiting December 23-30th. I know Parks will be super busy, I visited two months ago and fell in love with the water Parks. My plan is to hit Parks early in morning and hit out best rides, especially magic kingdom for 7 am. Then do some entertainment and walk around. And head back to hotel before noon. And then have fast passes starting around six to do rides at that park. I was wondering if the water Parks are dead during this week say if it's in the 60s? Or colder? Also if the crowds after around 10 are less for rides? Thanks!

Blizzard Beach will be closed for refurbishment during your stay so you've only got one water park option- Typhoon Lagoon. Typically on cooler days the water parks will see less crowds, but it's still peak time for Florida travel so I would recommend trying to go on a weekday rather than a weekend. As for your last question, could you clarify what you mean?

Will wait times be shorter late at night, and EMH at the parks.

I was there last year 12/27-1/8. It was too cold for the water parks. We live in the Midwest and I'm saying too cold so I really mean that. The kids swam in the pool briefly. The water is heated but walking around wet is where it will get problematic. I hope it's warm enough for you to adventure out to typhoon lagoon!

Since your leaving on the 30th I don't think you'll have an issue leaving the park at noon and getting back in. If you're staying on property it def shouldn't be an issue. Don't quote me on that because you never know but it's doubtful. The crowds do somewhat thin out the later it gets, take full advantage of the EMH. That's where we did tons of riding. We were in the park til 3a with an 8 yr old and 1 yr old and our kids had a blast. Yes the 8yo was still awake, hey it's vacation.

Don't forget to see the NYE fireworks, they have done them on the 30th and 31st at magic kingdom. They are phenomenal!!!

It sounds like you know what you're getting yourself into. Yes there's a ton of people but it was honestly the best trip we had ever taken hands downs. Pack your patience, enjoy your travel companions, and just take it all in. You'll have a great time. So excited for you!

Thanks for replying! I surf here in Massachusetts when it's 20 degrees outside so I'm gonna being long sleeved rash guard that will keep me warm. Our plan is to ride rides early in morning, fastpasees evening and ride late at night. Say at 12 am what would the wait times be for so,e of the rides at MK?

If memory serves me correctly, they do the fireworks at 9p and 1150ish. So at 12 the fireworks will just be ending you're wait shouldn't be Anything at all. After the fireworks the majority of people go home, we didn't wait longer than 15 min. Only exception was space mountain that wait I think was 30min.
It was also cold, I would think unseasonably cold but I'm not from Florida to know. We had on jackets gloves and hats, that had to have impacted people staying at the parks. Even with decent weather people just don't stay at the parks past 12a usually on any given trip if there are emh. Personally I love your idea of early morning then fast passes in the evening if you know you'll get up. We use this plan on many trips and it works perfect. And now with recent changes your 4th fp and beyond should be eAsier to obtain.

The way back to the resorts is more of a wait but that's usual. I personally have never had huge issues with bus transportation. I've waited thirty minutes before but nothing serious. Except NYE at Epcot, that's a different animal. If you're going to use the monorail I'd caution it. I've had an issue with the it many times and from what I hear I'm not the only one.

Be mindful of the possibility of parks reaching capacity if you plan to try to get back in later in the day.
Normally I'd agree with you but this hasn't happened in a long time.
OP one thing to think of is if you and your family are park commandos or more relaxing type of guests. I know you said you'd plan to be in the parks at 7am and then stay at them in the evening until midnight but to me that sounds like a recipe for an exhausting cranky filled week (at least it would be if it were my family :) ). Since you're a vet I'd suggest planning your three top rides per day on the app and then play the rest by ear. That's what we did this past 12/27-1/2 and had a great, fun filled, relaxing vacation where none of us felt wiped out until New Year's Day. Just my thought. Either way you'll have a great time!
