Visiting both Disneyland and Disney World

We have an upcoming trip to California followed by a trip to Florida. We plan to spend a couple of days at Disneyland and likely 3 days at Disney World. I've read all the information that I can and I've been unable to get an answer regarding multi-day tickets. We will be visiting both parks within the noted 14-day expiration rule. My question is; Can I buy a 5-day park hopper at Disneyland and then use the remaining days at Disney World? If not, any other suggestions to minimize the cost?

I'm pretty positive you can't use Disneyland tickets for Walt Disney World, since DL tickets are cheaper. You should consider getting the Premiere annual passport. It's a no-blackout AP that's good for both the DLR and WDW.

^^ what she said, aside from the Premier unless you have a need for an AP. Otherwise, just buy the tickets at the parks for the days you need.

A Premier Pass may not be the best solution LOL!

2-Day ticket at DL: $185 [with Hopper $225]
3-day ticket at WDW: $293 [with Hopper $346]

Premier AP: $1099

If the OP was planning the same trip twice within a year [2 days DL and 3 days WDW two separate times], then a Premier Pass would be worth getting, but only if they expect to use Hopper regularly.

Think of the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World as two completely different entities, as they are in many respects.
That includes ticketing - DL tickets will not work with WDWs turnstiles.

However, i have heard in the past that you CAN *trade in* your DL ticket at a Guest Relations counter for a 1-Park WDW ticket, and vise versa.
I few years back i looked into this but decided *trading in* my more expensive WDW ticket for a DL one was not worth it.
This policy may well have changed now, but you can always ask at a non-Park located Guest Relations once you arrive at WDW.
Try the one at DTD, or any GR counter at a WDW Resort hotel.
They will be able to tell you the current policy.
You might even be able to call ahead and ask before arrival.

It is probably best you just buy the days you need for both Parks separately.
To save a little money on those, Undercover Tourist. com may be able to help you out.
This is a trustworthy, authorized ticket seller for several Florida-based Theme Parks.
You will receive brand new current tickets at a discount mailed directly to you.
Hope this helps you out a little !

So, @raven24 @englanddg @Monty and @Figments Friend , why do you think we all act so graciously and politely by jumping in to threads like this and offering our advice and give of our time and resources? Meanwhile, newcomers like @Brent Y according to their profile visitation continue to visit this website days after we offer our help yet never take the time to drop back in and thank us?

So in the absence of @Brent Y, I will thank you all for your assistance and contributions to the community here. You are all a class act!

Wow someone likes to hear themselves talk. I won't get into it but certain unexpected events in my life required my attention. I don't believe I'd actually signed onto the forum. I simply read the replies via email. I do appreciate those offering answers but you may start to wonder before you speak if your remarks are relevant.

That post was just TP's way of saying we hope are advice helped. That's just TP, he has a way with words. Don't take it personal or be offended, he didn't mean it that way. :)
