Visiting a few new resorts....

So on each trip we take, we always take a day off in the middle of the trip. We like to recharge for the final 3 days and do some non-park stuff. One of our Favorite things is visiting other resorts and we are down to 4 resorts we have never been too. This time were crossing 2 off the list. We will be visiting Caribbean and Coronado for the first time. Wanted suggestions for things to look for or do while we are at those two resorts. We usually spend a few hours at each. And we are doing lunch at one of the food courts so which food court is the best for me and my kids ages 8 and 9.

Both of these resorts are worth exploring. At the Caribbean, most of the good stuff is clustered right at Centertown. Don't miss Caribbean Cay, a little island past the pool connected by walking bridges. It has a couple small trails and things for kids to explore.

Coronado has more stuff to see, and if you're up for it I'd recommend doing the full walking loop around the resort. Go clockwise and explore all the little fountains and courtyards inside the casitas buildings, then continue on around Lago Dorado, and eventually you'll come across the Dig Site and its waterfall pyramid. The full walk is nearly a mile, so with kids you might want to bring some water bottles or pick up some drinks from El Centro and use the restrooms before you start out. If they get tired along the way there are hammocks along the lake shore.

Both of these resorts have better than average food courts for lunch, though I would give the slight edge to Coronado and the pepper market.

To get between the resorts, a bus layover at the Studios park would probably be fastest.

I've never been to Caribbean Beach so I can't speak to that, but have stayed at Coronado many times. It is truly a beautiful resort. Really explore the lobby and the store. I love all the details in the dome above the fountain. Pepper Market and Cafe Rix are good spots to eat and I have heard Maya Grill is also very good. Take a nice walk around, check out the cool pyramid pool, and compare the differences in Casitas, Ranchos, and Cabanas. Maybe do a Hidden Mickey search too.
Enjoy your exploration! DH and I love exploring resorts too.

Some times when we have the extra time we will leave a park and just pick a random resort bus line, take the ride and then get off to look around, check out the different gift shops, dining area menus and snack bars. Its great stepping into a different resort lobby and seeing the various theming and decor. Every place has a different feel and level of comfort to it. It also helps when a friend says they are staying at a certain resort and I've been there, I can give them my quick impression of the place. I always let them know if I havent slept there, they may have a different like/ dislike than me.
