Its actually been recovered in Al Quaeda manuscripts on how to create food poisoning from common kitchen foods and procedures.

Most likely this post will be deleted by the moderators as I know its some strong content.

Don't you think that if it was terrorism, it would be something more than a flu-like disease that passes fairly quickly and isn't that serious or fatal?

More than likely its not food related. Its probably a flu that is going around. The disney employees on the magic along with the other ships that are affected probably are spreading it around. There are many diiferent strains of flu's. This year it seems one of the strains is very powerful and very hard to get rid of. I know because I had it. You have to sterilize everything. I don't think that disney could have sterilized the whole ship in time to leave again Saturday. With all the different exotic ports of call cruise ships go its no telling what kind of virus they could have gotten. I got sick from being enclosed in an airplane coming back from vacation. It spreads pretty fast.

Me and my family we're talking to the other day and I think it is terrism as well. But thats just me. lol It's just weird that this many ships have this. And everyone in the world know that Disney is a big company and it would make big news if something ever happened to it. So maybe they just wanted to make a point by food poising all those peeps. Ok that all

having it just been thanksgiving (YAY HAPPY T DAY) we had a familly discussion on this (and many other things LOL of course)
My uncle says that they found this disease on a ship in San Diego.
He also said that this disease is an air-bourne disease that people are catching over the water

it all sounds yucky to me

I just heard that on this past weeks cruise more people were sick and that the CDC has shut this weeks cruise down. They are going to find out were the virus is coming from. A lot of cruise ships these past few weeks had many people sick with the virus. One other liner was shut down last week and just set sail today. I think it was Amsterdam??!!!

There is a common link between the Magic and the Amsterdam- St. Thomas. Here is the itinerary for the 10 day cruise on the Amsterdam. This is the cruise where people began to get the virus. Now look at the 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Disney Magic, when passengers began to get sick. It seems like the virus was picked up on St. Thomas.

Also note, the virus is NOT from the food on the Magic. If it was food poisoning, people from a certain seating at one restaurant would have gotten sick. It has actually been various people on the ship who have been sick.

Carnival is hit now.

Thats interesting about the common link at St. Thomas and also about the persistence of this bug after complete ship cleanings. And with the latest attacks against tourism targets elsewhere it makes my spidersense tingle even more. There is some persistent efforts to now downplay this as nothing but a little bug that won't hurt you at some other discussion boards. And I think even some postings about trip reports are being deleted. Disney media control working overtime? And why did Disney let the Magic go back out for the Thanksgiving cruise when the cleaning process wasn't done? For the money thats why.
Just wait and see what happens coming up to Christmas and the New Years Eve cruise......

Carnival has just had an incident exactly like the other cases, anyone care to see any connection in the itiniaries now?

It seems you are a little paranoid. Posts being deleted? I find that highly unlikely.

How serious is this disease?

It doesn't seem very dangerous to me. From the Mayo Clinic to the CDC, everyone says the symptoms usually last from 2-3 days to a week max. Young children and the elderly are slightly more at risk, but they are for almost any disease.

Disney let the Magic go back out because it thought they had decontaminated this ship well enough to be rid of the virus. According to reports I've seen, Disney offered travelers several options about not cruising. I don't think money was that big of an issue.

I don't know exactly what happened but it could be a terrorist cell testing to see how and how fast a disease will spread in certain enviroments. Just a thought.

I have strong convictions it may be a possible terrorist attempt to test the effective procedures of containment, infection rate, public reaction, media handling and CDC reaction.
It is a very intelligent way to test with a relatvely "benign" virus to see how fast a measured amount released aboard ship can spread, the vessel is in tropical waters and temps, releasing the same virus at say the Superbowl would not have enough time to take hold, but in as little as two days everyone is exposed, several hundred at least, then they go home to their cold climate towns and then infect others.

If it was smallpox, would this then gets the USA in a panic?
And it looks like Fla. is up front with smallpox inoculations, I may be getting old but I can still add.:animwink:

Don't overthink this everyone... Virus Outbreaks occur all the time. Even if it were Terrorism, If you have no Fear then it isn't effective, so just look at the facts we know and get on with life... there are some outbreaks on multiple ships that is being investigated, taken care of, and measures are being used to prevent this from happening again. It's a minor virus and many are not getting sick also, so just notice their is some concern, but it isn't something to think too far into atm. Let's see if it continues or gets worse before jumping into too much paranoia. :)
