Virus Software?

I know there's a lot of computer savy folks on these boards. I was wondering if anyone knows of a relatively inexpensive but good virus software out there? We currently have four PC'c, two running Norton and two running McAfee. With the conflicker virus starting to rear its ugly head on Thursday, I'm updating and scanning all four systems. Norton is expiring today on one system.

I'd just renew the Norton subscription, but it seems to keep getting more expensive and it's a resource hog. McAfee is cheap, but I don't entirely trust it to be up-to-date on emerging viruses (its actually let a few slip by in the past). Seems to be just as bad as Norton with the memory use, too.

Anybody have any recommendations?

We have a home network and run AVG (paid version) on all of our machines. I highly recommend it.

And remember, it's not enough to just install an anti-virus program, it needs to have updates installed on a regular basis. Set it up to do that and run a virus scan automatically over night then you're always protected. I run the virus scanner every night but that is not necessary, you an set it up to run every other night.

As well, make sure that your Windows operating system (XP, Vista, etc.) is fully patched. I download and install patches at the very least once per week. Doing both of these things is a proactive approach to keeping a clean and happy machine :)

I worked in IT for many many years and DH is a programmer so we try to keep up with this as much as possible.
