At least now, for some of the series, you can actually see which one you are buying; the 'blind' buy and trade was definitely 'fail' for me (even though a savy castmember would help you out when you were blind trading).

I just recently bought my first 2 at the Disney Store in Times Square, which is fairly close to my apartment, and I'm afraid what's going to happen going forward. I just think they're cute and fun to collect.

Pins are still #1 in terms of collecting for me, though.
