Viewing Space Shuttle Launch

I am holidaying in Florida from next week and was hoping to see the shuttle take off on 2nd October!

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place, but could anyone give me any suggestions as to where is the best place to view a shuttle launch other than at Kennedy?

Hey Stevebuckle,

I saw a launch a couple years back. We were staying at Dixie Landings in the bayou section, and just stood infront of the fishing pond, just outside the Cotton Mill food court.

I WAS AMAZED AT HOW BRIGHT AND CLOSE IT SEEMED TO BE!

I have seen many launches on TV over the years, but to see one live, even though we were many miles away was a totally different and excellent experience.
I can't imagine how cool it must be seeing it from the viewing area at the launch site.

I say just watch from your resort....go outside five minutes before and look East...you won't miss it!:sohappy:

I went to see one launching while I was living there; it was the one with the woman in charge, can´t remember the name. We went three nights in a row and the last time, it finally launched.

If I remember correctly, we went to Titusville and watched it from the street. The tv cameras were stationed right next to us. There is a 7 Eleven where the street ends because there is water behind it, so you have to turn left and everybody lines next to the store. Everybody parked their cars and sat on the ground next to the water. People bring little tvs and radios, and it looked like if they were having a big midnight picnic.

It was extremely impressive and worth going. You´ll be amazed to see people parking their cars in the middle of the road to see it from there, but if you go to the spot I´m telling you, it´s only water what separates you from the shuttle´s launching structure. You feel the earth move when it launches, the water reflects it like a mirror and the skies get as if it was daylight for a minute. Very impressive!
