Video/camera equipment

We just purchased a video camera and would like to take it down there in Spring. We do have a padded case for it. What do you do when the entire family wants to go on a ride at the same time. Can you leave it with anybody until you get off the ride. Would it be safe? Or can you take it on some of the attractions? Do they have lockers their so if I decided to shoot some film and didn't need it anymore I could lock it up?

Any comments suggestions welcome..

Your best bet is to take it on the ride with you. For the roller coasters put it by your feet. And make sure the bag is water proof. We did that with our camera when we went.

Last year I carried a good daypack with seperate compartments. When we went on the rides, 35mm camera went in one compartment, camcorder in the other. That way, they didn't "clunk" against each other. Also in the daypack, I had extra film, strobe, batteries, windbreakers, an emergency blister kit, medicines, ponchos, and a partridge in a pear tree. Instead of worrying about seperate camera cases, I had just one case to keep track off. Wasn't real heavy, unless both cameras were in it, but that wasn't very often.

Okay, okay, no tree. But the partridge was good at dinner.

I put all of my recording equipment in my backback that I have for school. It's easy to take on rides (even roller coasters), and it's very easy to take around the parks.

Digital Disney's idea is good...i lke that...keeps it protected...i always carry mine around without it's bag, and i don't like to carry a backpack....what I do is wrap the neckstrap around my arm about 5 times so that it cuts off the circulation while i'm on the ride....at least i know it isnt' going anywhere....i managed to tape RnR this way.

Backpack

I like the idea of the backpack. I have a 35mm SLR camera too and I can put both in my backpack, plus snacks. mmm,mmm, good. I just didn't know if it was going to be to big on some of the rides.

i put mine in one of those igloo coolers the kind with padding ..it stayes dry and there are lots of added compartments / zippers for the batteries and extra tapes

How did you secure your backpack when you went on roller coasters? For example, where did you put it while riding RnR?

I always make sure that when I am riding a roller coaster like RNRC that I have my arm through the strap or tie it onto the restraint and I also hold my camera bag. The only ride I don't think I would bring my camera on is Kali River Rapids because I don't have a waterproof case. Every other ride is not really a problem to bring it with you.

No ride at WDW is bad for the camera. Some rides are wet and you have to be careful but I even filmed Splash Mountain, even the drop, I just covered it up with a towel and left the lens open.

On Space Mountain I put it between my legs.

On Rockin Rollercoaster, I have put it between my legs with the strap wrapped around my legs. You have to realize, RNR is a smooth ride and even though you go upside down the G force keeps stuff inside.

In fact, I have even filmed RNR with my camera. There are a few bumpy areas but overall it's fine. You'll be fine with your camcorder, don't stress.

I recently just filmed Tower of Terror, but that's very easy to do. Of course, dont tell them at WDW, I don't think I was supposed to.

With our old 8mm camcorders, we used to just leave it in the stroller coverd up. Never had anything stolen.

Now that I have a new very small digital camcorder and small digital camera, I keep them in small cases on my belt. The camera goes in a small camera bag and the camcorder fits in the pack along with sunglasses, money, etc.

The pack I keep up front and the camera bag on the side. I've never had problems on any ride, and both hands are free. Also, you won't accidently leave them on the ride on in the theatre if they are attached to you. The negative is you've got to have a belt and probably keep your shirt tucked in.
