Via Napoli vs real NY pizza?

We usually enjoy Anthony Coal Oven Pizza in Garden City, but I'll have to give Salvatore's a try! Thanks for the rec.
Definitely give it a try. Newsday has rated it best pizza on Long Island about ten million times and on Yelp, they are almost 5 stars. And worth every star. If you go, my advice is to go after 8:30 PM because they are generally mobbed before that. Enjoy!

Great post! What was your restaurant?
If you are familiar with NJ, I had a place in Manasquan and also a seasonal place on the Point Pleasant Boardwalk. It was a fun time, but the restaurant lifetstyle is crazy. I had to get out after 20 years of being in the industry. I've done fine dining, family dining, even supermarket merchandising but my pizza days will always be my favorite. Now I'm in wealth managment go figure...

It's pretty depressing when you just look at a photo of a slice or a pie and you think "Yeah, that looks awful" but to normal humans, it looks and probably tastes delicious. Growing up on Long Island has truly spoiled me. With that being said, Via Napoli is edible and it tastes fine but you're silly if you can compare any pizza outside of NYC-metro area to the real deal. It's just not realistic. Having moved to Philly, I go in with extremely low expectations and occasionally I am delighted by the outcome. I'll also add that the room delivery pizza is pretty gross but it's a great late night snack, like a Dominos booty call.

And if we're adding our favorite pizza on LI, I'll throw my two in : Leonardo's on Motor Parkway in Hauppauge directly off of exit 55 on the LIE. This was my lunchtime go to when I worked in that area. My second is closer to my parents in Port Jefferson, Vincenzo's on Main Street. Pizza is pretty good, their signatures like the Grandma, chicken bacon ranch, bbq chicken, sooooo incredible. After a night on the town, they'd throw in a few of their knots with two slices and I'd be in drunk girl heaven.

omg vincenzos in port jeff !!! I literally just moved off the island. Pizza is one of the many things I miss. I'll be back over there in January and in March so I'm gonna skip via napoli for now and wait for the real deal.

I have stayed by the 'Squan many times. Never really went for pizza though - what with Surf Taco right nearby :)
