Via Napoli - never been and need some outside perspectives

Simply....

Kona>Via Napoli IMO

Was not impressed with Via, and felt like we could have done just as well at a quick service. Kona on the other hand had great variety and surprised us.

Went to Via Napoli for the first time end of October, had a pizza and thought it was very good. It was a Friday night during F&W so it was crazy busy but we were seated quickly and our food came quickly. Service was very good. Plan on going again. Seeing the ovens is pretty neat. The only thing I would note is it is very noisy so if you are looking for a quiet place probably not what you should pick.

We've only eaten at Via Napoli once. I thought it was good, but not great. The biggest complaint I had was that it was surprisingly noisy in there (noise from other guests). I wasn't expecting it to be peaceful, but the noise was far greater than I'd have thought.

That said, I'd probably eat there again...but it's not high on my list of places to eat.

I agree completely, good pizza but very busy and noisy. To me, "sit-down" equates to comfortable and at least a little less quiet than a Cosmic Ray's kind of place. You might check out Restaurant Marrakesh as another option.

Thanks for all the replies! Ended up committing to just Kona and cancelled Via Napoli today instead of waiting until the day before. There's other counter service options I'm more excited about (if only by a little bit) so I made my decision. To quote Frodo or whoever: it's over, it's done.

While I enjoy the food at Via Napoli, I have to agree about the volume. The acoustics in that place are horrible. It is like eating on a high school cafeteria as far as ambiance is concerned. It sort of ruins it for me.

As an Italian American, I was not crazy about it. But I would say that about most Italian restaurants. Why can't we just pack my Grandma and bring her everywhere?

I'll take your grandma's cooking! I've always liked Via Napoli, especially the decor and atmosphere. The food is good. I'm assuming the cooks at World Showcase restaurants are brought over from their native countries?

I like the food there but it is extremely loud in there. It's really hard to have a conversation with your dinner companions. For that reason alone I don't like it.

I didn't notice that at Via Napoli. I did notice how loud it was at the Beer Garden, probably because of the music. But even when the music stopped playing, it was overwhelmingly loud. Of course, I have a magic trick that works at varying degrees for noisy restaurants.....drumroll please.... I wear hearing aids so I can turn down the level of background noise I hear. However, they also pick up what's loudest so the loud kid two tables away may be more in my ear than my dining companions literally. :):eek:But for the most part, the hearing aids tend to work really well.
