Dumb question: what is your dc site? how do i get there? is there a link? I think the Disney Channel totally sucks now......if you are older than 14 years old there is nothing worth watching......and I am so sick of the reruns of Boy meets WOrld and Sister Sister........BRING BACK THE VAULT!

Yeah - that may be a really good idea. I'm going to create a fax and an email that are standard and see how many people we can get to send it in.

That and start calling about once a week or so and ask about the time frame of bringing back Vault Disney.

:D

Ought to be entertaining.

i really ,really, really, miss the old disney channel offerings.i got the disney channel in 1986 when it wasnt even a 24 hour channel-stopped programming at midnight and restarted at 6am. they had a great mix of shows for all ages.i loved the old classics like zorro and i think it was called scarecrow and others. my fave was the theme park type shows like wdw inside out-both versions.the very best was the shorts between shows or movies.i think it was called imagine that would showcase epcot technology or other shorts that showed new attractions and doings at the parks.i think the main problem was disney was starting to loose market share to nickalodeon becasue they were doing very well with their "hip"shows for kids while disney was loosing groung with non "hip"programming like disney classics and real wholesome shows.and slowly the started regaining it back but in the interim starting slicing away shows that wasnt competitive or enticing to the audience the were going after and then-BOOM!!!!-NO MORE ADULT SHOWS AT ALL.i know to be competitive with other stations they need more younger hipper shows like lizzy mcguire
but give a little to the ones WHO PAY THE DARN CABLE BILL TOO!!!!!!!!!!!

This MAY be why they changed things...just a guess tho!
They are releasing the individual movies to a 2 dvd set, and calling it "Vault Disney" They have all kinds of extras, like the Making ofs, and autobiographies and such. I have picked up the Parent Trap and Swiss Family Robinson so far, and they are wonderful! Tons of extras and behind the scenes secrets and short animated features. SFR even has the official opening of the Treehouse at Disneyland, with commentary from Haley Mills. Did you know it was her Dad who played the father in that one??? I didnt. I have learned a ton from watching these. My guess is they will release the Zorro and Spin and Marty on DVD, as well as True Life Adventures and MMC...All with extras...Oh, and by the way, I bought them at Wal Mart for 15.oo each! A GREAT bargain when Best buy wanted 22....and we picked up Treasure Island at Albertsons for !9...Best Buy wanted 24...LOL It pays to shop around....OH! And the Horse in the Grey Flannel Suit is wonderful too...

Well, they didn't close Vault Disney because of these DVDs, but they created these DVDs with those names in honor of Vault Disney. Just like they now have a "Vault Disney" website...which really is nothing like the "vault" really was - it's kinda tacky and unfitting.

It's more economic to release DVDs...but they're never going to get that "much" out - and even what HAS been produced has been edited...it's totally losing its magic. :(

Now that I think about it, I should get rid of Digital Cable. I only bought it to see Vault Disney.

I never paid for the Disney channel in the first place, and What they did show I either missed, or found it edited...I would much rather see these movies in their original length, uncut, and with NO commercials...I never liked the quality off of television either. This way I can learn more about them, from the people who made them and were actually there...and get some wonderful extras in the bargain too...I actually watch the Disney Channel now, and I enjoy their new movies, and the series, especially Even Stevens and Lizzie...As long as I can see what I want, when I want...Like My Pollyanna movie, and my Classics, which I have on Laserdisc, DVD and Video....Im a happy Girl....:sohappy:
Whenever I tried to watch late night Disney channel, it was the same stuff, over and over....actually a small portion of what they have in archive...so remember, no matter what you do, or say, or write...they are gonna do what they feel is right..

Yes, but they also think shutting down the Carousel of Progress is "right".

Personally, I disagree. The "Vault" is HUGE. I remember just taping random times just to pick on the trivia, Disney moments, and even some surprise footage from the Alice Comedies! It was such an exhilarating feeling to see Walt on the television once again. That feeling is priceless. I can have a book with a bunch of pictures of Mr. Disney, but to see him on the television is something totally different. This makes it "alive."

Even the Ink and Paint Club - hundreds of Disney cartoons - not knowing what will be on next. There was so much more than the 2 major films - the whole Wonderful World of Color - Ludwig Von Drake...

...and some of my personal favorites, the EPCOT Opening Celebration and theme park specials!

There is hardly any chance that Disney is about to release all of this footage. If they do, I will be VERY impressed. But I'll be more impressed with their courage to put family entertainment for all groups - remember, we should never lose sight of things of the past - and not exclusively the teenagers. It's not about the kids. Not at all. It's about the family!! :D

Ohmygoodness, I could not have said it any better! I loved seeing Walt again! I would find myself getting up before dawn to see certain shows, especially those like the ones with the Osmonds and Kurt Russell at Disneyland! That was priceless....and I own the boxed sets of the Mickey cartoons and the Goofy cartoons, and the Davy Crockett shows and all the classic movies (look for 20,000 Leagues coming out next Tues), but to just be able to kick back and turn on the DC and see Walt introducing the Magic Mirror on the Wall or interacting with Mickey or Donald, or even watching old Mickey Mouse Club shows, well, that made me appreciate the Disney magic all the more. The original programming is good, and should continue, but dont cut out the legion of Disneyholics who hold the old near and dear.......we GET that Walt was special, we GET that it was he who was the heart of Disney....we grew up watching him every SUnday night, and to connect to that time again---priceless........Whoever is head of programming now should be ashamed, they definitely do not GET what Disney is all about......

Not really sure if this is going with the topic of discussion, but if you like Vault Disney, I highly reccomend picking up dvd's in the "Vault Disney Collection." Films include "Parent Trap," "Pollyanna," "Swiss Family Robinson," and "Old Yeller." The bonus features on these dvd's are excellent and show a bunch of old footage from the movies and the actors in the movies.

It is still not the same as turning on Vault Disney---the videos are great but there was nothing like perusing the TV Guide to find your fave episode of WOnderful World Of Color!
