Value resorts? Decisions, decisions.

We're staying in a standard room at Allstar Sports in August-Sept. Wanted to stay on the Disney World property, and make use of the transportation to the parks. It will just be a place to sleep, shower etc. I made this choice based on cost, being first in the bus service lineup at the Allstars, and the new food court. Hope it will be a good experience.

What is the differences in prices coming up as?

The last few times I've checked, there are moderate resorts available for less than AoA. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've seen a deluxe come up for less.
Over here at least, AoA seems to be coming up for crazy money.

Just checked now, I can get AKL, WL, OKW, either POR, SSR, CSR and CBR all cheaper.
In fact, AoA is coming up at over three times the price of ASM (cheapest).

Dates wise I choose May 11-25 as that was pretty much the dates I was there last year.

We are paying 100.00 more per night for May at AoA than we paid in November. I hate to pay so much, but we need two bathrooms and a separate bedroom for our party. It's still cheaper than two rooms at a mod, and it has a kitchenette. We like it there, but it really is expensive in the suites.

Are you comparing the prices of a Little Mermaid room or the Suites at AoA to those other resorts? The suites usually fall somewhere between a standard room at a Moderate and a standard room at a Deluxe. But the suites at AoA sleep 6 people, have 2 bathrooms, a separate master suite, and a small kitchenette in the room. The standard rooms at Moderate & Deluxe resorts don't. If you want to compare apples to apples, you have to compare the price of the Little Mermaid rooms at AoA to standard rooms at other resorts.

Yeah that's a fair point, I had forgotten its only the suites that are currently open at AoA and I was looking at prices for 4 not 6. Whoops!

Still, keeping the same dates I already mentioned and making it for 6, ASM is coming out far cheaper than AoA.
Converting the prices (from UK site) gives $4,312 vice $2,738, seems a huge difference - ASM 36% less although it sound like you don't get the second bathroom.

Actually, doing the sums, you can get three standard rooms at ASM for less than 1 suite in AoA - $205 less.

That seems like a huge difference between AoA suites & ASMu suites. I thought when we priced the suites last year that AoA was about $35-50 (USD) per night more expensive than ASMu. It was a small enough amount that it really didn't even make me think twice about it and we stayed at AoA (we were only there 7 nights, though).

The suites at ASMu do have 2 bathrooms. The layout of the suites is nothing like the suites at AoA, though since the ASMu suites were created by using 2 adjoining standard rooms. The AoA suites were designed as suites from day 1 so their layout is a little more logical.

I am thinking of which hotel I would like to stay in next year with my 3 friends. I was thinking one of the all star resorts or the Art of Animation hotel but I was kind of hoping to get 1 room with 3 beds as 2 of my friends are sisters and they dont mind sharing but my other friend will be the only boy in our group and even though he is gay i think he may feel uncomfortable sharing a bed with me again after our trips to DLP. which hotel would be best for us to book>

....I'd say POP. But ....I wouldn't spring for the added cost of a poolside room. We've done that ...and or requested it ....every time. But the poolside activities have become unbearably loud in the daytime ....and the nite-time poolside movies can be quite loud too.

although pop is likely a fav my only knock on value resorts are the roving gangs of tour groups burning down the resort. (ok ok thats just what it sounds like there doing at 10pm)

Heading down to the happiest place on earth for a family vacation next fall/early winter. It's not your regular family vacay though. We're all adults, ha ha. It's been a few years since I've been to see and stay with the Mouse :) essentially we're doing the trip for me, ha ha, but I know the others will have fun, too! Of the value resorts, which ones would appeal most to the adult variety? Not that it matters to me :).[/
