Value or Moderate?

I'm currently planning a vacation for this summer. This will be my 2nd trip and my first time staying at a resort. I currently have $1700 in my Disney savings. I'll most likely be going alone and I've been leaning back and forth deciding between staying at a value resort or a moderate resort. When I started saving for this, I had the Caribbean Beach resort in mind. But recently, I've thought about going down to a value resort. Since All Star Movies seems to be booked, my choice for value will most likely be Music. An 8 day/7 night trip to Caribbean Beach will cost me around $1250, while All Star Music will be around $1000. This means with Caribbean Beach, I'll have about $450 for other expenses such as meals and souvenirs, while I'll have $700 if I do All Stars. For meals, I doubt I'll eat much. I may have a few nice meals but I think I'll mostly eat burgers and pizza and drink bottled water, refilled at water fountains... and prolly some snow cones, it will be hot. But I'm not really much of a snacker. I'm guessing foods will be about $40/ day.. though I could be wrong. Here are some arguments for each option.

Option 1: Caribbean Beach

- It's where I had originally wanted to stay
- It's nicer than the values, seems to have a nice view when I'm in the resort.
- Maybe it's more convenient... maybe
- I can afford it, but I will most likely use up all of the Disney savings if you include the other expenses.
- I did save up that money just for a Disney trip though.

Option 2: All Star Music (Or Movies.. but I doubt I can get that)

- Umm... it's cheaper!
- I'm not gonna really spend much time at the resort. I'll prolly be away from early in the morning to the late, late at night. Then I'll just sleep a few hours and be out again.
- I'll have more money to spend on other things. Perhaps I can use the extra money to dine better or buy more souvenirs.
- I'll prolly not exhaust all of my Disney savings and could save the rest for other things back home.
- Is it really that much of a difference?

What do you guys think I should do?

I say go with option 2 Vince... as you said... you will be in the parks most of the time... If all you need/want is a bed, shower, and maybe a pool... then stay at All Stars. :)

Since you will more than likely be going alone and not spending a lot of time in the room, I'd go for the All-Stars.

If you were traveling with a family I'd suggest the moderate if you could afford it, because the All-Star rooms are very, very small.

I've stayed at value, moderate, and deluxe resorts. When I was at a moderate resort (Dixie Landings) I was wishing I was back at the All Star Sports. The walk from our room to the food court was about 10-15 minutes at Dixie. It was absolutely ridiculous, we were at the furthest point out. We also requested a room closer to the food court because my grandfather was in a wheelchair. Heck, I'd work up a sweat just walking to get coffee in the morning. NOT worth it! If I would have had a rental car I would have driven to the darn food court. I was so disappointed.

I like the fact that the All-Star resorts are more compact. Everything is close. Nope, you couldn't get me back to a moderate. But a deluxe, well, that's another story.........
