Value More Expensive Than Deluxe.

Weird but true.I grabbed a Thomas Cook brochure today and for two weeks staying at AoA in July it's just over £2000 ($3200) per person, yet staying for two weeks at AKL it's just under £2000 ($2800) Plus there's no free DDP at the value resort and free DDP ( 1 QS & 1 TS ) at AKL which is a saving of £1600 ( $2250 ) for a family of three. Even Albert Einstein would be scratching his head at this one.

Are the rooms that bad at AKL.I would have thought they would be of a good size & quality for a deluxe, even with a balcony, but there you go.:)

If just considering the room size its bad, because they are quite. But overall the resort is one of the best, its very themed, the animals are great, the music is great, the dining options are great. I would definitely say AKL unless travelling with a big family.

I was surprised at the size of the rooms at AKL, but I'm used to Value Resorts so it didn't bother me. My room at CBR was much bigger than AKL.

But you can't beat AKL's theming! It's an awesome resort!!!

Could your CBR room seem larger because it has two double beds instead of two queen beds (unless you stayed in a king room)? Maybe the AKL furniture is bigger(?). The Unofficial Guide states there is a difference but not much. The room diagram also shows a closet at AKL.

I can't wait to stay there.

The rooms at CBR are slightly smaller (4 +/- square feet) than the smallest rooms at AKL. The rooms at CBR do however appear bigger for a few reasons. The rooms at CBR are painted a lighter color, have a slightly smaller bathroom layout and have smaller beds. This makes the rooms appear to be a bit bigger when they are not.

We were in a king room at both resorts. CBR is actually 4 sqft smaller than AKL (CBR 340, AKL 344) so it could have something to do with the shape or furniture. CBR was roomier for us, but AKL was more "WOW!"

Hope this helps!

You're right about that bathroom at CBR. Teeny tiny!!! Smaller than a Value Resort. Our AKL bathroom was normal size, roomy in fact.

Were a party o f six, and noticed that deluxe was more expensive than AOA as well, but the set up of AOA is not all that appealing, and the price at POLY not all that appealing as well, so what to do? Two Royal rooms at POR! more space, two bathrooms, full food court, water service to DTD, brand new, and less tha both of the above. For 6 of us with two rooms, park hoppers, 7 days, $3200 total.

We booked with Kenwood for August 2013 and the Grand Floridian with free dining plan was cheaper the POFQ with the QSDP. I don't know what happened but we booked the Grand because it was cheaper.

Groovy! The wife and kids want to try AKL, and I don't really care as I will only be sleeping, showering, and shaving there.

here is a tip if booking a standard view or water view room at AKL in case you are like me and want some drawer space...tell them, otherwise you might find yourself having to leave most items in your suitcase the duration of your stay at AKL since not all rooms come with cabinets/drawers for the guests...

AoA is very popular. I wouldn't pay that kind of money for those sort of rooms/surroundings...you can do SO much better for less!...but a lot of other people will.

I would take AKL over a value every day of the week and twice on Sunday!

I love AKL. The rooms are way too small for what they charge - even smaller than most Disney "Deluxe" rooms - but that is the only real drawback. Well, that and the fact that you must go outside to get to the Mara, AKL's fast food place.

But the Mara is wonderful, as are the rooms (other than that they're so dang small).

It isn't the hotel for everyone, I'm sure. If you think you'd hate it, you really might. But if you think you might like it, you'll probably end up loving it. I do.

And if you end up liking it half as much as I do, you'll be very happy with your stay there. :)
