Value (Cheapie ) Resorts

Howdy, Who wants to recomend a value resort. We go every year and always stay at Coronado Springs or French Quarter, and we were not going to go this year, but now we see the $1500.00 6 day offer at the values and maybe we can go. So which tourist trap should we choose? Step right up, don't be shy. Thanks :hammer:

I'm sure the OP was just trying to be cute. Any way, I don't believe value means "cheapie." But my family really likes POP Century. All Star Movies was good too.

If you are like us and are out of the room by 8am and don't return till 11pm then the Pop Century is for you. The beds were comfy and accomodated my 6'4" husband and 5'2" twin girls. We are not ones to lounge around the pool especially in November, so the pool area does not matter to us. The food court was great too!

Yeah -- take a look at the bill and you'll find out :D Definitely not Motel 6.

But seriously, Pop Century is my favorite. The rooms are newer, you don't have to fight to get three hotels worth of people onto one bus (as is SOMETIMES the case with the All-Stars), and I believe the rooms are just slightly bigger (very slightly). Plus, I personally prefer the theming of Pop compared to the other Values.

By the way, Voodoo...
WELCOME TO THE BOARDS!

I could not agree more. I've stayed at the more expensive hotels and in the end, they all look the same when I close my eyes and fall asleep. Since thats about all I do in the room other than take a shower and get dressed, staying a Pop Centry certainly is more of a value...hence the name.

Sure, the value resorts are more "motel-ish", but after all, IT'S DISNEY! I travel all over North America for my job and I have yet to stay at a Day's Inn or other motel like accomidations that were as nice as Disney "value" resort.

I've been to WDW about 15 times with my last stay at Carribean Beach. It was nice, but since I spent more time at the parks than in my room, I really don't see any advantage at all to staying there. the room was about 3 feet longer. Whoopie!!

Value resorts are on WDW, I like Pop Century. The quality is equal to that of the Moderates, but the rooms are smaller and the resorts offer fewer amentities.

Cheapie resorts are all over Orlando. You've come to the wrong forum if you want advice about those.

We just stayed at Pop and loved it. I think we actually liked it better then CB. The overall resort is fun and the rooms were well done. There wasnt really much that we didnt like. We spent a considerable amount of time at our room and using the facilities and would definately go here again. We stayed at AK one night and that kind of spoiled things a little bit to see how nice the deluxe resorts are but for the price you cant beat the value resorts. I think the term "value" descibes them well. For what you are paying your getting a very nice, clean resort, all the basic amentities, good food choices and all the perks of staying on property. I could care if I get a free newspaper every morning. I am there to shut out the "world" outside and enjoy the other "World". The more affordable it is the longer I can enjoy it.

My husband and I stayed at the All Star Movies Resort and it was great!

We loved the fun decor, the convenience of the mugs and food court, and the overall atmosphere.

My only advice is to see about getting a preferred room that is closer the food court, pools, and bus stops.

In the past we have stayed at POP and Music. I would definately suggest POP. Great resort for the price, wonderful (if not just a bit loud) food court, and solid bus service. We had no problems with crowds and this was at Thanksgiving.

Thanks you for your quick replys and honest opinions. I was of course being sarcastic with my cheapie comment. In our 12 trips we have never stayed at a value resort. My opinion was biased based on the shear numbers of people waiting for the bus at varrious parks, and horror stories of friends and neighbors. As some of you have stated, in the end it is only a place to sleep. Thanks again.:p

A note on the $1500 offer...

Just so you are aware, the fine print on this offer...

$1500 is based on a family of 4 (2 adults, 1 Junior age 10-17, 1 child age 3-9) stays in a standard room at a Value Resort during value or regular season ( Jan 1 - Feb 15, Apr 23 - Dec 19) on the Magic Your Way Vacation Package and recieves a 7 day Magic Your Way Base Ticket (one park per day, expires 14 days from first use.) Your cost may be higher or lower based on your family's size and vacation needs.

The very find print: A typical family of 4 stays in the least expensive room, during one of the least expensive times of year, and gets the least expensive ticket. This offer is based on standard rack rates, no discount is offered or implied.

Hope this helps! :sohappy:

I have to agree here - I've stayed at all three All Stars and the Pop Century and my favorite is the All Star Sports - the Preferred building is actually beach themed with big surfboards and lifeguard towers - very beachy and fun! My favorite part however was the bus system at this resort - you are always the first to get picked up AND the first to get dropped off - this is wonderful at the end of the day when your little one's are tired... All of them are nice - but the Sports is our family favorite! (even if you're not all that into sports!)

I've only been to All-Star Sports and Movies. In my opinion, Movies was by far the best. The theming was amazing! We stayed in the Toy Story building but all the buildings are great. The food court was very nice too. I've also stayed at Port Orleans Riverside. The value resorts really don't compare to the moderates or the deluxe, but they still have that great Disney flair.

im glad someone else agrees with me!!:sohappy:
me and my sister stayed at all star sports in the american football section near the food court but more by the base ballpool and i loved every bit of it, i would look out of the window and people who didnt know each other would be playing american football together and it was so much fun seeing the kids doing there touchdown dance, also i loved the theming as it wasnt OTT like PC. i loved walking around the resort and yes the bus service was a bonus being first on and first off  . loved it and im going back!!!

Yep - it's a long time favorite (and frankly, I don't tell too many people about it - I love that it's one of the last values to fill up!) :animwink:

So I have to ask - you aren't from the States are you? (the american football kind of gives it away)

no im not unfortunatley but i love the american sports, i walked around the whole building taking pic's, i swam in the baseball pool all the time coz thats more quieter than the surf pool. the sports is so much quieter than PC and its the best disney one i have stayed in so far, the rooms where big, i prefered the lay out of the room. i would drop everything to go back now!!!!

it was my first time staying on disney property and i didnt want to leave as soon as i saw the resort coz it had been a long day traveling coz something happened and that put a damper on it but as soon as i was there nothing was going to ruin my holiday.
i had a set plan that started when i got there and that was to get a resort mug and food then unpack and go to DTD then back to the room and sleep.

cant wait to go back next xmas and new year :xmas:
