Valentine's Day Quick Trip Report

Cast: Me your average sappy Disneyaholic (37)
DH your average Disneyaholic who puts up with my sappy side (34)

Plan: Romantic Valentine's Day weekend get away with time to relax & enjoy
being a sappy Disney couple--Mission Accomplished.

Flight:Our first non-stop from home. Woo hoo. We left at 7:45 & were at
POR by 10:30--thank you Delta & Tiffany towncar service. You rock!

Resort:Port Orleans Riverside--I had originally booked into the All Star
Movies, but when the reduced rates came out quickly bumped up to
POR because I knew it would add to the romance of the trip. It is such
a beautiful resort & has a romantic ambience. We got our room when
we checked in at 10:30--it was ready & most of the requests I had
made with our fax a few days before (thanks DISboards for the great
ideas--I had never faxed a request before) were met. We had a non-
smoking room in Magnolia Bend--Acadian House bldg. We got a
beautiful corner room with 2 windows-one overlooking the river-on the
3rd floor. It was perfect except no king bed, but I wasn't complaining.
I felt the pixie dust already . We enjoyed the food court for
breakfast. Loved the River's Roast for drinks--especially when Bob
Jackson was playing piano--actually we wished he was there longer &
on more nights. Loved walking around enjoying the view. Took the
Sassgagoula River cruise to Downtown Disney which was great. Just
fell in love with the place. And, it is QUIET....which is nice for a couple
without kids!!!!

Special Valentine's Surprises: I had a basket made by Feralpeg from these
very Disboards which was delivered to our room on Saturday night as a
surprise for my husband. It was beautiful & she included extras that I
requested to help with my other surprise--wine glasses & a wine bottle
stopper, of course with a Disney theme. Great surprise!!!!!!
The other surprise I had planned was a carriage ride on Valentine's
night before our dinner at the California Grill. We came back from MK
rested & got changed for dinner & then as we were walking across the
bridge there came the horse & carriage. My husband looked at me &
smiled. Lucky the horse was decorated with pink & red
flowers for Valentine's Day & looked very cute. We drank a small bottle
of wine & enjoyed our ride down to & through the beautiful French
Quarter. It was a perfect Valentine's Day activity & we really enjoyed
it.

What we did besides mushy valentines stuff:
Saturday Feb 12th--arrival day
We went to MGM for a few quick thrills--namely TOT & RnR. Visited
Sorcerer Mickey & the Animation academy. Caught two hilarious
streetmosphere performers--2 guys dressed in plaid pants with
big chunky black glasses who were dusting off a bench & then
saying "The Stud Bench is Open for business"---too funny. We
then went back to POR & caught the boat to DTD for some shopping
before heading out to Magic Kingdom for our
dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table & then took in some rides before
finding our viewing spot for Wishes--which is my favorite night time
spectacular. Watched Wishes from the bridge to Tomorrowland & got
misty as always. Caught a few more rides before the 11pm closing
time & then headed back to POR for a drink in the River Roast lounge &
caught the very last of Bob Jackson's sing along. We
wished we had left the parks earlier so we could have enjoyed this
longer since this was the only night he was going to be playing while
we were there. Oh, well next time (like we need an excuse to go back
to WDW.)

Sunday Feb 13th
We spent all day in EPCOT. Were so excited that the Wonders of Life
was open--rode Body Wars & saw Cranium Command for the first time
in a long time. Had fish & chips for lunch & French pastries for a snack.
Saw lots of attractions & soaked up lots of atmosphere--which is one
of our favorite things to do at EPCOT. We saw the new Crush
interactive show at the Living Seas--pretty darn cool. How do they
do that--synch the animation with the answers Crush gives to the
kids?? Had a wonderful meal at Le Cellier & watched
Illuminations which is DH favorite. Enjoyed another drink in the River
Roast at POR with a bag of popcorn before retiring to our mansion for
the evening.

Monday Feb 14th
My DH gave me a Disney Italian Charm Bracelet for Valentines Day--
to which he added a Mickey & Minnie smooching charm, a Snow
White charm & a Sorcerer's hat charm. Great gift & something we
can add to with each trip.
We spent the day at Magic Kingdom. Did our special favorites. In
3 days at the parks we saw Mickey's Philharmagic twice.
It's my new favorite along with my old favorite Splash Mountain where
we didn't get wet at all. We left the MK & had afternoon
tea at the Grand Floridian which was great as usual. We then went
back to POR for a little rest & to get ready for our Valentine's evening.
Had our carriage ride & then headed out to the Contemporary for our
dinner at California Grill. The view from here is beautiful with the MK all
lit up & sparkly. Just breaktaking. I can't say enough about how
wonderful the food was here---read my review on the restaurant
board if you are interested. We watched Wishes right from our window
side table. It was AWESOME. Perfect Valentine's Day.

Tuesday Feb 15th--We left after a nice breakfast at POR & a last
stroll around.

SO, I think we accomplished our goal of a romantic get-away without any trouble at all. It was a wonderful trip full of great magical moments & has left me wishing as always to go right back to WDW.

Hey, my husband and I were there too without the child that same time period you guys were there. We did alot of similar sightseeing you did and probably passed each other and did not know it. We were at Oak Manor. Wasn't the grounds beautiful and peaceful? The azaleas were already trying to bloom.

We were in the Acadian house & yes, it was beautiful. I stayed there years ago when it was Dixie Landings & loved it then & I love it even more now. What a beautiful resort. Glad you had a good time too. :sohappy:

Did you take the carriage ride with the horse whose coat looked like an impressionist painting? He was gray with white spots. He was beautiful as all of them were, but he was extremely unique colored. I wanted to take a picture of him but never had my camera. We were also wondering what his name was.

Ringo--yes that was the same horse we had. His name is Lucky & that night the driver had put pink & white flowers in his mane for Valentine's day. It was a great addition to our romantic weekend.

We had such a wonderful time & I'm glad others have enjoyed reading about it.

Hang in there Gucci....I know how you feel, but I'm lucky my Prince did come.

Did you happen to get a picture of Lucky to post? :)
